Replacing fence with a larger size but using smaller posts

If I’ve got standard concrete posts that accommodate approx 1.8m high fences which need replacing, can I still buy larger fences which stick over the top of the concrete posts or will they look really bad and weaken the structure due to lack of support on the sides? I know a trellis is also an...

Flexible ducting for kitchen extractor hood

Thanks. I guess it wont be a technical problem to position this so that it points sideways away from the neighbouring boundary right? The air will flow which ever way it's positioned.

Flexible ducting for kitchen extractor hood

Hi I have a Siemens extractor hood bought as part of a clearance, so no manual. I need to get the PVC flexible ducting for it. I measured the extraction hole and believe it is 120mm in diameter. I can only find 100mm and 150mm flexible ducting in Wickes. Should I be getting 120mm size...

    Sky Q box?

Does anyone know whether it is possible to control a SkyQ box via a smart phone so that you can switch the TV on/off and prevent kids from watching it for too long? Also if I bought a second hand one off ebay, will I have access to the free to air channels and recording capabilities or does...

3 core and earth 1.5mm flex cable

ericmark, So if the more rigid grey lighting 1.5mm 3 core and earth cable can be used instead of flex, then I might as well save on the cost. Is it possible to get different coloured 1.5mm cable just so that it is not confused with mains cable if in the future it something needs to be opened...

3 core and earth 1.5mm flex cable

The codes that are usually associated with the cable, what do they represent as it doesnt seem to be a reseller's product code e.g. 6242Y? Why is it that flex cable includes the earth and installation cable does not?

3 core and earth 1.5mm flex cable

I need to buy the above for UFH wired thermostats. Does that mean I need to buy cables with 4 wires in it or does the the cables include the earth? Maplins are doing a closing down sale and tempted to buy some that I need but all they are saying is that it is 13 amp cable. Would that match 1.5mm?

    Door bell wiring

I'm considering adding a second door bell sounder to the house because our kitchen is being moved to the back and wife may not be able to hear the bell. I don't want to move to a wireless bell since I already have an existing wired bell setup and transformer. Will a second bell require any...

What paint to use over an external copper gas pipe?

I don't know if there is a major copper theft problem in my area, I just figured that any 10m run of 22mm copper might be attractive to cheapskate thief and it was my plumber who suggested I paint it as a deterrent.

What paint to use over an external copper gas pipe?

anti climb paint, blue paint, red paint, doesn't matter. It's paint. You didn't suggest grease or denso tape which is what some people are suggesting when I google it.
