    phone connection

Yeah, sorry - only had phone camera. This is an extension connector where the line comes into the house rather than something connecting to a socket. Seems different from those on the diagram.

    phone connection

Hi I've disconnected my phone and although I took note of wires, I can't seem to get it reconnected. Any diagrams anywhere?

    coat door?

Bought some internal doors, clear pine 4 panel variety. Do these need to be coated with anything? I know lots of people who just fit them and leave them...

fill up gap round radiator pipe with grout?

Okay, tiles laid and I have cut gaps into some so they could fit round a radiator pipe. Do you grout up the gap round the pipe or just leave it?

    cutting direction angle grinder

...just spuriuos questions. The grinder I was looking at only has a left and right handle so if you want to cut a tile standing behind the tile instead of above it, the chance exists for it to catch and go upwards. Maybe I'd just be safer with a power wet saw bench thing for about £30.

    cutting direction angle grinder

...and upwards it runs toward your face?! Should it always bu used in a side on cutting orientation then with you standing above the grinder or can you have it horizontal with the blade still cutting upwards through a tile, for example?

    cutting direction angle grinder

Does the cutting direction always have to be in an upward motion? It leads to some awkward ways to hold the tool. Why can't you cut with the blade going downwards into the object?

    power tool to cut tiles

1 more ;) I've tightened up the blade to the grinder but there still seems to be a bit of sideways movement of the blade 1-2mm. Is that right or should it be totally solid? It's a M14 spindle with 22.2mm blade diameter.

    power tool to cut tiles

Got a sintered diamond saw blade for the dry cutting of masonry materials. Will that work? I thought read somewhere it should be a continuous blade for ceramics? How do you cut curves with a grinder BTW ? I'm thinking doing this on the face side may chip away some of the covering?

door - big gap at bottom

Wouldn't a rising butt hinge be better? All good in principlie but it doesn't fix the problem because there's still a gap at the bottom of the door and I don't want to replace the door if I can help it. Is it better to buy a draft excluder - rubber or brush? OR Place a block of angled wood...

    unsquare room - centre tile

honestly mate, you haven't seen my flat. Not a straight wall in the entire place, awkward rooms, etc. Actually, to be honest I can't do much about it now as I've laid 95% of the tiles. I was just checking. I reckon once the grout is down, and kitchen unit skirting back, I'll hardly notice but...

    unsquare room - centre tile

The room I'm tiling is totally non uniform. If I line up the tiles square with one wall, then they are not parallel with the units and vice versa. Is it best just to make the best of a bad situation in this and make them parallel with one wall and just tile. Which ever angle you look at it...

how long to fit 6 doors

How long do you think it would take to fit 6 internal doors? Thinking of paying some local handy man to come in and do it as I'm all DIYed out.

door - big gap at bottom

A 30mm section of what? Rubber draft prevention stuff or one of those brush like draft extractors? Or do you mean, a 30mm section onto the door frame? If I do that, then there'll be a little ledge sticking up that everyone is bound to trip over constantly :)

door - big gap at bottom

The back door in our kitchen has been cut in such a way that when it is open, it is parallel with the floor and not too much of a gap. However, when you close it there is a 35mm gap at one end and nothing at the hinge end. Anyway to close this gap but still have clearance when it opens...

    power tool to cut tiles

So, do I get a blade for my existing jigsaw...or do I splash out on a grinder and wheel. Will the cutting be any different for what I need it for, bearing in mind my other post...

    cutting floor tiles

I'm a graphic designer can't you tell. It's like this: 2 whole tiles in the doorway, with thin ones at either edge. I couldn't get the alignment any better than this so it makes it difficult. Then half tiles off to the left. Do I just cut them like indicated or should I make a more...

I assume you meant wall tiles here or could these door floor as well ?

    cutting floor tiles

There's one part where I have to cut round a door frame and the frame has a shape like this: Tile goes in the stripey area. Because of the awkwardness and unsquareness of the room, this is quite a thin cut before the next tile starts...hence the need for a better cutting tool than just...
