Will this break my central heating? pump question.

Thanks for the quick reply stevesey. I've whacked up the pump speed for a while to see if this makes any difference but what about adjusting the boiler temperature? Are there any probs with having it set too high? We don't have kids so not worried about burnt fingers on the rads

Will this break my central heating? pump question.

Here's the background. Moved to a new house built in the 80's with a rubbish central heating system by the looks of it. It has a conventional boiler (new-ish) with various rads connected with micro bore pipes :-( The entire system seems to be full of sludge 2 of the rads didn't get hot at all...

How best to cover up an asbestos roof?

Nah, I can put the batons on the two walls that are parallel to each other. The passage is only a couple of foot wide. Apparantly the technical term for this is encapsulation. I wish the survey we had done had warned us of this, apparently our back gate contains asbestos too, i didn't know...

How best to cover up an asbestos roof?

Hi there, I'm in the middle of going through the stressful process of moving home. My buyer has had his survey results and says that the archway (passage) between our house and the ajoining house for rear garden access has asbestos panels in the ceiling and they need to be made safe by...

Help, potterton suprima 50 leaking water all over my kitchen

You are probably right. I guess this is what happens when you pay the extra to get the so called professionals to do a job. And by the way, it was a 'reputable' company that carried out the work and they were corgi registered, for what it's worth. I guess it would also have been better...

Help, potterton suprima 50 leaking water all over my kitchen

Oh my god, you ain't going to believe this sh*t! I've gone home and switched into colombo mode (minus the cigar). Some things just occurred to me: * It rained a lot last night * a guy at work infact said it was almost horizontal rain * The water in my kitchen was clear, not the black...

cheers matey, I've got this afternoon off so i'll take the thing to bits and see if i can see where the leak is. Failing that i suppose i'll have to get a boiler engineer give him my left arm and leg for him to tell me it's all knackered and I need a new boiler :-( Just damn annoying as...

How can you tell if a wall is load bearing?

Yes, it is one concrete slab. That's why i was a bit concerned about knocking walls down as it must weigh a ton. No, next doors is a different design, they only have one door leading in to their shed. Ours has two, one on the outside of the property (probably used as a coal bunker) and one...

    Air conditioning?

Salem, let us know how you get on with your fixed unit especially how noisey it is. I too have a B&Q portable air con unit, which cools the room down nicely but is very noisey in the process. Ideally i'd love to have a fixed unit which i could leave on over night without keeping myself or my...

How can you tell if a wall is load bearing?

Ok here's the thing. I have an outside shed which is made of brick and has a flat concrete roof. Inside the shed it is separated into two parts by means of a brick wall. I want to remove this wall, problem is how do i know if it's taking any of the weight of the roof? Just to be clear, i am...

Why's that. Thought chippies dealt with wood as opposed to plastic? Surely a qualified carpenter is going to cost more than an unqualified guttering fitter?

Not really masona as i don't know anyone who has had this done, plus i've never really heard anyone say a good word about any trades men they had experienced. Words more like, con man, coy boy etc etc which is a shame as this is a job i don't want to have to DIY as i don't even own a ladder. I...

Can anyone recommend a contractor to supply and fit new guttering, facias, soffit, down pipes etc to my house in the Farnborough (Hants) area? I've had a couple of quotes already varying from £500 to £1000 but i really want it done, cheap by people i can trust not to bodge it!
