Hi I have a Worcester Heat Slave 20/25 oil fired combi boiler. Recently it developed an intermittent fault where it fails to start up when the timer switches it on for Hot Water. It makes an clicking noise, but does not fire the burner or the pump ? I was wondering if it could be the...

Can a RCD be used as an Isolating Switch

Hi Yes that is correct. I was concerned that if someone assumed what I had initially assumed that the consumer units were interconnected the could get an electrical shock. I am going to place a self adhesive warning label inside both consumer units so that it is obvious to anyone who opens...

Hi Yes there is a note inside the second consumer unit highlighting that there is an RCD and it needs to be tested quarterly. I take it that the dolly switch can be used as the isolating switch ? Many thanks.

Can a RCD be used as an Isolating Switch

Hi sorry me again. When it comes to consumer units is it correct to say that you should always isolate each consumer unit individually and not assume that an isolating switch in one consumer unit would isolate everything assuming more than one unit in the same house ?

Diverter Valve on a Worcester Boiler

Tony At this stage we are not sure. As you know the diverter valve is very difficult to get to in a HeatSlave. We wanted to have all the spares we may need before removing the existing diverter. There is the chance that it is just the powerhead is faulty or the ball valve is sticking and...

Hi That's correct. The manjority of the cable runs through the ceiling where it was clipped to the side of the timber joists. The rockwool insulation was then installed between the joists. From what I have read the MCBs should be changed from 40A to 32A which is what the electrican had...

Underfloor Heating - Engineered Board or Solid Wood ?

Is the shrinkage cosmetic from the point that you can see the gaps opening ever so slightly or will the shrinkage cause creaking ?

Underfloor Heating - Engineered Board or Solid Wood ?

Thanks Board for board - Say 150mm wide engineering board versus 150mm wide solid wooden board are you likely to get less movement ( and hence less creaking ? ) from an engineered board when the underfloor heating raises the temperature of the flooring ?
