    Ikea fun!

Thanks (as ever) for the replies!!! To answer some of the questions ; Yes it is - does this mean I don’t have to worry about the earth? That was an old pic prior to being connected to a new pendant but they are pretty much the cables to go into the new unit. I’ll have a look for the icon re...

Hi all I recently replaced an old pendant with a new standard one (original wires are on the pic attached with the dodgy looking terminal block. After good advice from here I fitted a new pendant light and the wires that were previously in the terminal block went into a permanent live connector...

    Bathroom motion sensor night light

Can’t comment on the set up but I must say that this seems like a great idea to have one spotlight on a motion sensor making trips to the bathroom at night a little easier than turning on all the lights

Replacing kitchen halogen downlights with LED

Ok makes sense. Do you have any thoughts on these lights? https://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-fixed-led-downlight-chrome-370lm-4w-220-240v/7204v Given they can easily daisy chain I’m wondering if I can connect them to my existing switch mode as 6 of them will draw more than 20watts. Will that...

Replacing kitchen halogen downlights with LED

Thanks Can you tell me why I wouldn’t use one of these as a direct replacement for the ‘switch mode’ and connect LEDs to that? https://www.screwfix.com/p/halolite-low-voltage-electronic-transformer-20-60va/48058#product_additional_details_container The product you’ve sent a link to looks a...

Replacing kitchen halogen downlights with LED

evening all This weekend I want to swap halogen spotlights with LEDs in the kitchen I tried the easy option of fitting LED bulbs in existing fittings and they didn’t draw enough power from the existing transformers and just gave a dull flicker. I haven’t yet taken down any of the existing...

    Oven cooker hood has died

Forgot to say it’s very old. Pre when we bought the house and it looks like it’s from the 70s or 80s inside which might explain why replacement parts are so hard to come across or expensive!

    Oven cooker hood has died

hi We have a Belling CHIM110S and the motor sounds like it’s on its last legs. It certainly isn’t extracting anymore and sounds very rattly. A replacement motor looks to be in the region of £200+. Is it worth it? Or should I replace the whole hood? Also do I need to buy a Belling motor or...
