    Conservatory roof bars

Was going to fix battens using self tapping screws into the aluminium. As long as it's in the centre, should be ok, seen others do this.

    Conservatory roof bars

I know a conservatory roof is designed to take heavy snow loads, but are they strong enough to take plasterboard fixed to the inside? Glazed panels.

    Conservatory ceiling

Yes, l was thinking of putting something over the glass first. I thought of cladding but the missus doesn't want that. We want a clean white ceiling so will be plasterboarding

    Conservatory ceiling

Was you ever concerned about the extra weight on the roof? As l say, mine is glazed so l'm a little bit concerned.

    Conservatory ceiling

I have a large glazed conservatory and wanted to batten, insulate and plasterboard the inside to create a ceiling. Firstly is it safe to do so? l have seen companies offering this service as well as lots of videos on YouTube of people doing their own. I am more than capable of doing it myself...

    Painting a garage floor

Just out of curiosity, when you you paint the floor and how has it lasted? I also was looking at a hard wearing floor paint from Wickes. Will definitely be painted, as that is the look l'd prefer. The epoxy seems a good option though. Thanks for your reply.

    Painting a garage floor

I intend to paint my garage floor, but wanted some advice on preparation. The floor is not porous, and actually quite smooth to the touch, almost like it has been sealed before. Do l need to use some kind of primer first before the main finish. Just worried about adhesion. It is used as a gym so...

    External masonry painting

I'm looking for some advice on the costing and timescale of a job this big and what l can be expected to be quoted for it. The property on the left is going to be flat rendered to match the right hand one, and then complete repaint of both properties with white masonry. Just walls, everything...

    EGGSHELL ON WOODWORK

dcdec. I guess if everyone was as knowledgable as you, we wouldn't need these forums at all would we! Sometimes I think you people use these places to act superior above the rest of us. And I never said I was a tradesman did I :?

    EGGSHELL ON WOODWORK

Please tell me whether I'm right in thinking that eggshell was never supposed to be used for woodwork because someone wants me to use this finish on theirs. It won't last long will it? I've advised that other than gloss, satinwood is the next best option for them, but I'm afraid that they're...

    LAMINATE FLOOR

What is the easiest way to determine the squareness of the room area so that when I stand back, the laminate looks to be running straight to the room, even if I need to scribe the first pieces along my starting wall? When I start the installation of laminate flooring from my starting wall...

    Building raised beds for vegetables

I want to construct a couple of raised beds for growing vegetables, but I'm not really sure which timber to use. My first thought was treated boards, but after a bit of research, I was put off by the chemicals infecting the soil. All the different information available just does my head in, so I...

    CHARGE FOR LAYING LAMINATE FLOORING

Thanks for the advice. I won't need to trim doors, but I will look at sliding the laminate under the toilet. Also, I had 2 days in mind, but I'm won't be as fast as a pro obviously, but £68 for 2 days work is not much is it. I was thinking of charging around £140? Too much or too little?
