Soil Pipe Cutter - How short can?should I cut?

I need to cut back a horizontal soil pipe in order to fit a new toilet. It is 3.5" ID cast-iron and still has it's collar. There is about 2.5" between the back of the collar and the wall - Will this be enough for a chain cutter to fit around it? :?: I intend to hire a cutter from HSS...

    Chasing basin waste pipe

Hi Bahco, I intend to box in the 120mm window recess so I can conceal the toilet cistern (not shown on the sketch) and the basin pipework. Due to the location of the waste I hope to chase the pipe ino the wall. If 40mm is too much to chse, I will further explore using a boss on the WC...

McAlpine WC Connector with Vent Boss - OK for basin waste?

Great find! I thought it looked too short, but the multilink website says you can link multiple connectors together. Would the MacAlpine still do the job?

McAlpine WC Connector with Vent Boss - OK for basin waste?

Does anyone have any experience with one of these: Would it be suitable to use as a basin waste? I am concerned that boss appears to pinch; but then it is just basin waste (washing hands/shaving). I cannot find any alternatives :| Thanks in advance.

Rescue / Replace / Remove Victorian Airbrick

It will be a nightmare to strip but I shall give it a go. I still think it would look naff if I tile up to it... Anybody know where I could get a smart looking vent which I could fit over it perhaps?

    Chasing basin waste pipe

Thank you, but sadly not :( I will be installing a back-to-wall pan, and the soil pipe will extend into the back of the toilet. This means there is very little/no room to get the basin waste pipe into the back of the pan to meet the connector. Anyone else?

I need some advice please with regards to different pipe connection methods. I am installing a new basin and intend to have the 32mm waste running to a WC/soil pipe boss. This piping will then be boxed in. My questions are: a) What pipe joining method is most reliable – solvent...

Who knows best - You or the experts?!

OK, not good then!! When you lay a new floor on top of an existing wooden subfloor, I understood that you should avoid using a DPM as this may cause condensation issues? If this is correct, and a DPM should be avoided, I would have thought that covering the subfloor in an adhesive would...

Who knows best - You or the experts?!

Thanks WYL, Out of interest, which of the above four points worries you most? If you glue a new flooring to the subfloor, will this effectively be like a DPM? i.e. it will stop the floor 'breathing' anyway? GW

Who knows best - You or the experts?!

Engineered flooring installation. One of the companies we have approached propose to install it as follows: 1) Lay it in the direction of the existing (tatty) pine boards using 3mm ply in the low areas only - Whilst I understand that a min of 5.5mm is typically the minimum. 2) Use...

Who knows best - You or the experts?!

Situation: You get a specialist in to do a job you don't feel capable of doing. They tell you they are going to do it in a particular way; which seems to contradict with what personal research suggests. How do you decide who knows best??!! Afterall, they have Xyears experience and have...
