    Metering net solar exports

Thanks ericmark, I have also been looking at the efergy engage product range but although it can have up to 5 current transformers it is not clear if it will do what I want. I know how to fit it, I am a Chartered Electrical Engineer. I was asking why you originally said I can't fit it myself...

    Metering net solar exports

If I get the DNO to fit an isolator, which I would like for other reasons, why can't I then fit my own meter between it and the CU? Or is there a solution of the clamp-on type? I would have gone for Owl but I see the s/w has poor reviews, are there reliable alternatives?

    Metering net solar exports

We have a standard 3.6kW solar setup installed in 2011, it has a Total Generation Meter fitted inside between the inverter and the CU. Outside in the meter cupboard there is an old two-rate meter for the E7 supply. Neither of the above measures the amount exported (and it is not possible to...

3/4" Thread taps in WC / Utility Room?

Flow rate will be determined by the 15mm pipe anyway, can't see any problems if you use proper 15-3/4 tap adaptors

    Corrosion in rainwater system

We have a whole-house rainwater harvesting system (except for the drinking water taps), and in recent years I have had to replace the PRV on the hot water tank (corroded/broken spring) and a blanking plug (pinhole leak). There is a blue-ish deposit in the shower as well which I imagine is copper...

    Replacement ballast for 2 x 58W fluorescent

Thanks davelx. Turns out it was a Thorn Punch II fitting not TLC non-branded, they have the exact Tridonic ballast with 270mm fixing centres that you recommended so all good.

    Replacement ballast for 2 x 58W fluorescent

Am trying to find a replacement HF ballast for a fitting believed to be a TLC MDEC 258 [https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/MDEC258.html]. There are various ballasts for 2 x 58W fittings listed on line from third-party suppliers but they come in several different sizes and fixing centres...

    Mixer tap swivel leaks

Thanks Elkato531 Answer was just past 9 o'clock. Top tip about the PTFE tape, seems to have fixed the problem. Yes, tap is well past sell-by date but we had already spent a fun day replacing the service valve (aren't they dreadful) and re-making 4 compression joints on the hot supply. Also...

    Mixer tap swivel leaks

Thanks for that. Unfortunately there is no grub screw and no separate collar, the base is one casting and the spout another, seemingly with no visible means of locking the one to the other. I have a dim memory of a kitchen mixer where the spout would pull straight up when it was rotated to a...

    Copper Pipe Corrosion

The automatic bleed valve looks new, maybe the previous one failed causing a leak and whoever replaced it did not clean up the pipework?

    Mixer tap swivel leaks

I have a monobloc kitchen sink mixer like this https://www.screwfix.com/p/mono-mixer-kitchen-tap-chrome/5497T (except for the finish). It leaks from the swivel joint. How do I get it apart in order to see what is wrong? TAI Chris

Soil pipe fittings - WC move

We had almost exactly this situation in summer 2018. From the 110 spigot coming up through the screed I used a 110 access elbow to start the horizontal run, then about 1m run to the pan connector with another elbow in it. Using the dimensioned drawings in the Osma catalogue I satisfied myself...

Changing quartz sleeve on UV steriliser

I have bought a replacement quartz sleeve for my Pentek UV-120 steriliser but cannot get the old one out. This video suggests a simple "twist and pull" motion should be sufficient . However it has taken 48 hours for a combination of soapy water and descaler solution to free it to the point...

    Notches over holes?

I had a similar problem and asked the loft conversion firm to get their structural engineer to provide a calculation showing that what they had done was OK, and withheld £££ until such time as they did (which was never). The Wiring Regs say that notches should be not deeper than 0.125 joist...

Blocked pipes - central heating system cleaner

IMHO your best chance of success is with a citric-acid based cleaner e.g. https://fernox.com/product/ds40-system-cleaner-1-9kg/. Be sure to use the neutraliser in accordance with the instructions though.

    hotpoint oven dh93cx

Can't say for sure with yr Hotpoint but in the past I have replaced a half grill element in my Belling cooker, easy to see what to do once you get the back off. Recently the bottom element went in the top oven, The Element Man had a replacement in stock even though the cooker is now 47 yrs old...

Washing machine moving around - tried so many solutions

A friend of mine had a w/m/c in her new house that wouldn't pump out, and I found the blanking plug had been left in the fitting under the sink. If the OP's developer knows as much as hers did then replacing one machine with a second one that also has the transit bolts left in sounds highly likely.
