    Water softener for 1.4bar

I just bought a watwr softener from BWT but then read it has a minimum pressure requirement of 1.7bar so I would need a mains pressure pump. Do you know of any other water softeners around the £600 mark that work with 1.4 bar?

Silicone instead of grout on splashback

I have used very large format tiles on kitchen splashback, hence there are few grout lines. Could I get away using silicone here instead?

    Silicone only to set toilet

Thanks for pointing it out before it comes into proper use. I’ll get that tank installed in the loft. I might get away without a pump as can get it about 5m directly above.

    Silicone only to set toilet

I’ve done my research. I need to install this: https://www.arrowvalves.co.uk/cistern-ab-air-gap-wall-tray I’m a bit surprised at these regs because what’s the difference with doing the same thing with an ordinary shower hose except for the fact you’d get warm water.

    Silicone only to set toilet

It has a separate feed down from the loft but that is from mains. Is there a type of valve that would work in this setup, like a double check valve somewhere on the pipe?

    Silicone only to set toilet

This toilet is a pain to move and porcelain a pain to drill. Would silicone along the bottom and wall edges be enough to set this toilet?

I stacked them in the end and im happy with the result except for the grouting cock up but it’s not noticable to the average eye.

    Grouting disaster

I managed to scrub all the excess with steel wool after 5 hours but the grout lines are not so professional looking but will have to make do. Mapei said I probably made an error in mixing.

    Grouting disaster

No no, thats my water bucket trying to save the day. I only mixed 1/5 of the packet. I’ve got a professional grout float and sponge. It set waaay too fast. No idea wtf went wrong. Maybe I didnt put enough water. I’ll be calling Mapei tomorrow. I’m finding steel wool is working well but I might...

    Grouting disaster

I tried to follow manufacturers instructions but the grout wouldn’t sponge off easily and now there is grout still stuck on all the porcelain tiles after two hours of effort scraping them off. Does anyone know a good way to remove the grout from the tiles more efficiently?
