    Cistern very slow to fill.

Sorry, Thx. I am just an ordinary diy'er. I fly a PC for a living, I didn't quite understand the seating bit. I do now though. I did think about dismantling the valve however, I didn't have time to isolate/drain the water supply on my break, otherwise i may have been posting this in 'DIY...

    Cistern very slow to fill.

Ok, the 'ball' in the cistern is black so presumably I need to try a low pressure 'red' ball valve c/w assembly?

    Cistern very slow to fill.

Hi, I know this seems a repeated question on the forum, I have already researched this site, however here's the deal. I have recently moved into my house, so I have no history on the problem. The house is mid-70's and it has an indirect system feeding the cistern. As mentioned I have a...

Not enough 30A spare fuse slots

Do you have a TT supply? No I don't believe I have a TT supply, my reasoning is I don't have an RCD, well not visable anyway. With regards to the others it could be either?? if that makes sense, further investigations will be required. Aye as my 'inbred cannyness' suggests, I would like...

Not enough 30A spare fuse slots

Thanks, I will, if they have one, look on thier web site and order one so at least I'll have the most suitable CU ready for the 'spark' to fit, size should not be an issue as the CU is in an under stair cupboard. bigger the better then i could get the garage, shed, comp/study on thier own...

Filling a large hole in coving

If you can access the loft, tape a piece of stiff card behind the 'hole' return to the bathroom and fill the space with some polystyrene, shape it to the contour of the coving, fill the gaps with 'coving adhiesive/filler', smooth off, allow to dry. you will probably have to re-fill as the...

How can you eliminate drill holes under emulsion paint?

Sorry for not replying sooner and if you have fixed your problem already, I was busy stripping/prepping walls in my kitchen all weekend, back at 'work' now. Not sure about your "orbital sander" avoid using it if it is a accessory to a power drill, you'll need to call in a 'plasterer' if it...

    Plaster Ripple Effect on Ceiling

Probably be quicker, less messy and less expensive... ripping it down plasterboard as well and starting afresh. you don't know what the 'Artex' is hiding.!!!

How can you eliminate drill holes under emulsion paint?

Hi, I had a similar problem, also has raw plug holes to fill-in in the Centre of the lounge wall !!, this may sound crazy and messy - but it works, make the holes larger in diameter(in a creater type fasion - not deeper)- wet the plaster and fill with ready made polyfiller in a tube so the...

    Tiling advice please.

Hi, Just finished installing new worktops in my kitchen last night, I am eager to start tiling (up to below the wall units), the thing is I have several double sockets/cooker switch/central heating control box etc.. in the area I want to tile. The sockets etc are the standard 'white' type but...

Not enough 30A spare fuse slots

Thanks guys, It's just that I can't get a hold of a 'spark' to do a full PIR and install a new Split CU for a couple of weeks, and my other half, is threatening to go to her mothers if I don't get the kitchen sorted...... might not be a bad thing though.!! cheers..

Not enough 30A spare fuse slots

I have an old style Consumer Unit and all the slots are in use. The 30a fuse is currently connected to the shower unit. Until i get a modern 'Split CU' fitted, with more slots, would it be possible to temporarily connect my new cooker on the same circuit as the shower? providing my other half...

    5.2Kw Double Oven

Thanks guys, A friend, suggested "the biggest cable you can find"!!, but he's a North Sea Tiger!!... anyway the lead would be from the appliance to the wall, then 'probably', hard wired into the CU. I say 'probably' because, after some investigation and testing,(previous query) the ccircuitIS...

    New cooker - Old house.

Hi, I have recently moved into an older house (1977 ish) and I have just bought an electric double oven to replace the old gas cooker. The house has GCH which has replaced the electric boiler(no longer exists). Before I attempt to install the oven (with 10mm2 cable), I have a couple of...
