Is this really a tonne bag?

What makes you say that? I ran some string round it and then measured the string. I've just remeasured and its 316cm so slightly out before.

Is this really a tonne bag?

Think its your calc. I calc the volume to be 463 litres but could be wrong. So 1 litre is 1.62kg. Thus weight is 750kg? Can someone confirm my calcs?

Is this really a tonne bag?

What does it work out at 30L weighing 48.6kg? Does that change the total versus the 1600kg per cubic foot?

Is this really a tonne bag?

In fairness this one has, its probably closer to being a cylinder than a square the way I look at it. At least its another method to try and either proves its ok or is more evidence to say it isn't.

Is this really a tonne bag?

The circumference is 314cm, the fill height is 59cm. I've got a 30L plasterers mixing bucket. The weight when filled with gravel is 48.6kg Note that its pretty wet as well so that'll be at the heavier end. Been raining a lot the past few days.

    Carpet cutting efficiency

Yeah I noticed underlay seemed to be quite over measured on the online calculators. Appreciate your input.

    Carpet cutting efficiency

I've got a floor plan from when I purchased. The ground floor is laminate and won't be doing the bathroom. In the second floor bedroom that top right part on the picture is now an en suite so imagine there being a wall from the corner of the doorway along into the window (which i've shrunk down...

Is this really a tonne bag?

I’m going to do the string measuring tomorrow as the bag is swollen more so than the seams. Don’t think that’ll get me to a tonne but maybe closer to 800kg or so. Still enough to throw back at the company. Probably going to go to trading standards either way. If it was 50kg short I’d shrug but...

Is this really a tonne bag?

Does that factor in compression? Not sure paying for water will make me feel better. Plus gravel doesn’t get virtually 100% heavier when wet!

    Carpet cutting efficiency

Thought that might be the case. Was trying to get an idea on cost. But hoping the stairwell gaps will be plenty to cover the things such as stairs. May need a bit extra though.

    Carpet cutting efficiency

Hi, Looking to get some fitters in to replace all the carpet upstairs. I'm trying to find a calculator to optimise the number of cuts but keep hitting pay walls. Does anyone have any tips on where to find such a calculator? Essentially some rooms aren't square so with the offcuts i'm wondering...

Is this really a tonne bag?

So seam to seam (appreciate it’s being stretched so probably slightly bigger) is 85x70cm. Height of the bag is 90cm but it’s filled to 59cm high.

Is this really a tonne bag?

They offer both 850kg or 1,000kg as an option. Apparently the 850kg come in smaller bags but the picture I’ve been sent looks way more full for a smaller bag so it’d have to be much wider. Thanks all for the comments. It’s a bit dark outside now (had a long day) so will check out the...

Is this really a tonne bag?

Hey all Been in constant dialogue with an online provider of gravel. I paid extra to have 1,000kg over the regular 850kg. But to me it doesn’t even look like I got 850kg. They said the white bags are bigger but I took some measurements and they don’t seem any bigger than the 850kg bulk bags I...

    Paper tape with plastering?

Yeah it’s a fair point. My only reluctance is that I’ve got loads of cracks running along seams where previous trades have used scrim tape. I hear paper tape is better because the cracks happen beneath it and so you don’t see them when there is plaster on top.

    Paper tape with plastering?

Hey everyone Struggling to get an answer on this one as whenever I use paper tape as a key search term I get loads of tape and joint answers. I’m trying to find out if I can use paper tape for plastering when using actual plaster and not the jointing compound method. If so, how do you put it...

    Tiling plan - cement board

I was hoping they would be easier! The walls should be really flat because of the cement board. But a lot of effort into making sure that’s good. I’m going to use one of those levelling kits to get the edges sorted. Don’t worry I’m asking for help so appreciate the detail.

    Tiling plan - cement board

Thanks, thats really helpful. I know its only £50 but thats a lot to me so I'd only want to do it if really necessary. If I hadn't cement boarded I would have tanked but I thought one of the benefits of cement board was not needing to tank it. Thanks for the tip on drilling. Good idea to keep...

    Tiling plan - cement board

Hi I’ve read the basics thread but still have some questions. Wondering if you could help out. Just about to start putting the cement board on the walls. I’m using sts 10mm cement board for the walls which is a simple studded wall. I’ve put plenty of noggins in so it’s not moving. The floor...

    Espag length, does it matter?

Thanks! Appreciate the effort for the demo. I’ve managed to buy one from a local window supply company. It fit well and pulls the window in tight. Appreciate all the advice! Cheers
