    Replacing single oven with double?

My single oven is needing replaced and I’d like to fit a double if possible. There is a drawer under the single oven which someone told me I could remove and drop the shelf of the oven to the required space for a double, then cover the gap left with a blank facia. Does that sound ok? Will the...

    Adding Bath Under Existing Shower

I’m planning my bathroom remodel and will be getting a plumber to do the pipe work etc, but wanted to check something. I plan on removing the shower cubicle and replacing with a shower bath tub. We want to keep existing shower and obviously add taps for the bath. Is it easy enough for bath taps...

Bath and Wetwall on top of tiles

Thanks for comments. I’ll screw a batten to wall as advised-will fully frame the bath Realised I may have to remove the tiles on the wall the shower mixer is on as the threads connecting the mixer to pipes unlikely to accommodate the thickness of new wall panels and the tiles, if that makes...

Bath and Wetwall on top of tiles

Hi, sorry the current tiles are the full length of both walls so would extend beyond the length and breadth of the bath, and are floor to ceiling. In terms of the pvc cladding, if that’s what is it nowadays? I remember see it fitted years ago and it was an mdf type material with a nard laminate...

Bath and Wetwall on top of tiles

I am looking to replace a shower cubicle with a bath, while retaining existing shower above bath. The 2 walls inside the shower are currently tiled so rather than removing I am hoping to fit the bath with these in situ and place wetwall type panels on top of the tiles and above the bath. Is it...

    Is this tree diseased?

A few giant trees in the park just beside me blew over during a recent storm, and this one just over my boundary wall is bothering me as it looks a bit rotten. All green mouldy looking with some broken branches. Does it look diseased? Hoping I can petition the council to get it taken down...

    Leak under door?

Thank you, I will take that strip of trim off to see if I can see any more holes. if I can’t am I going to have to get the door removed and a sill fitted? I’ll try and ask the builders if they drilled those holes also

    Leak under door?

Thanks for replying Would the concealed drainage you say to block up be the slots you can see in the bottom of the frame? May be a silly question but how does the water get into the frame in the first place? Do you think I should look at trying to retro fit a sill type drip bar along the...

    Leak under door?

I’ve had a look and can see inside the frame there appears to be slots and on the front face holes, presumably for drainage. you can also see on below pic an area where water was coming inside in the corner

I’m not sure, didn’t know they need to! I’ll have a look tomorrow, what should I look for?

    Leak under door?

I am also concerned that there is no sill or step at the bottom of the doors to deflect water away. could I retro fit something?

    Leak under door?

Sorry realised I put this in wrong forum so asking again here… I have a patio door on my recently built garage, and I noticed that the concrete floor inside became wet after the heavy rain last weekend. The door sits in the single skin blockwork which is rendered but underneath the door was...

    Leak under door

I have a patio door on my recently built garage, and I noticed that the concrete floor inside became wet after the heavy rain last weekend. The door sits in the single skin blockwork which is rendered but underneath the door was just left as exposed block. I suspect the builders haven’t lapped...

    Concrete floor issue

I’ve recently had a garage built and I am finding that patches of the concrete floor have an almost gritty/gravelly finish on the surface, even when I sweep it. I’m worried if I don’t seal it in some way then it would eventually wear in these parts and cause dips etc. What would be the best way...

    New garage floor problem

I’ve recently had a garage built and I am finding that patches of the concrete floor have an almost gritty/gravelly finish. I’m worried if I don’t seal it in some way then it would eventually wear in these parts and cause dips etc. What would be the best way to seal these areas, or indeed the...

    Space required to pebbledash

That's just what the plans state (dry dash), to match the existing house. I wouldn't mind if it was a smooth render. Are they just as watertight and durable? Sides of the garage will get little sunlight and are near large trees so would worry about it all turning green!

    Space required to pebbledash

Hi I have planning and bw applications in for a detached garage. One side wall is to be 500mm from boundary which is neighbours house, and the rear wall 700mm from another boundary wall. it’s block construction with a dry dash render finish. Is this enough space at the side and back to apply...

Thickening party wall under floor level

I live in a semi detached and ive been getting irritated recently by a clunking noise coming from neighbours pipes, sounds like probably water hammer every time they run kitchen tap. The neighbours house is about a meter or two lower then mine so a large part of the dividing wall is under our...
