Flat roof advice re some pooling and laying decking

As the last week went on and the rain came down, not to mention my 20 second checks with a spirit level, I agree.

Flat roof advice re some pooling and laying decking

Yes you're right. I'm generally not short on some level of building/DIY knowledge so I'm someone that can see a right way and wrong way clearly but as you say the problem is putting it over and it's chances of attaining anything other than an argument. Thats why I'm just going to do my best to...

Flat roof advice re some pooling and laying decking

I don't disagree. However in fairness to the roofer who did this the existing top level was well above the plywood base (the felt-membrane-tile adhesive-top tiiles/small slabs) and it wasn't pooling particularly badly. The ply looked level enough when he felted it but it seems it must've been...

Flat roof advice re some pooling and laying decking

I was going to get some aluminium silver paint from a roofing supplies company tomorrow. I can ask them if they've any ideas for something to pour to try and level off the bits that pool. It seems not a bad plan to try and stop water sitting if poss. Certainly lessening it would be good

Flat roof advice re some pooling and laying decking

Thanks While accepting it might not be a big problem I can see today we would be talking a bit of time for the pools to dry, probably a good day or two. Not sure why it's pooling like it is but there is obviously a bevel I didn't expect. Could I try to screed over the areas with some bitumous...

Flat roof advice re some pooling and laying decking

Hi folks I've just had a small roof terrace re felted. Unfortunately the new felt is pooling a bit but not dreadfully badly. Only a couple of 3'x3' areas. I'm not going to fret about it too much but I occasionally see some pebble type surface on top of felt. What is this and should I buy some...

Opinions sought on painting new decking and paint/cost

I am considering options to finish a newly felted roof terrace approx 7 sqm. I like the idea of (grey) composite decking but it is very very expensive especially when adding in its hidden fixings etc Wondering what those here think about the idea of painting new decking? Wickes are doing 4 for...

    Renewal roof terrace base

Done approx 20-25 years ago, smallish terrace (approx 7'x8') it's leaking and needs re-done. I set a couple of loose tiles two years ago and pointed round others. The tiles seemed to be adhesive on to plastic membrane (like damp proof membrane) but the adhesive was breaking up and I felt the...

Gazco gas woodburning effect stove flue connection for my information

I'll certainly be making an effort to make sure it's put back safely. It's a tricky one when having the stonemasons rebuilding the chimney- got access just now to refit stuff at chimney end (I have bought new clamp for liner and a new cowl to go with it. At the room end, i'll see this week...

Gazco gas woodburning effect stove flue connection for my information

I received some advice on Friday from a supplier of associated parts who also sell stoves etc. Related to your post I was given numbers for guys who obviously do fitting for them. I asked if they do the gas side as well as liners etc but was told not. So it appeared to be the case they would...

Gazco gas woodburning effect stove flue connection for my information

I had the gas disconnected to this a while ago and then removed it myself and tidied where the liner came through the wall, putting a vent over it. I want to put the fire back. The flexible chimney liner going to the stove was sealed to an intermediate solid pipe (about 6") long which then...

Anyone familiar with chimney liners for gas fire

I haven't spoken to him about it other than him saying he'd fit the fire Just feel it could be a right rip off to get the liner fitted by another source when the scaffold is up and there looks like the potential to drop liner in at same time, but of course it depends how easy it is to do.

Anyone familiar with chimney liners for gas fire

I am getting two chimneys rebuilt soon and would like to get the liner renewed for a gas (Gazco woodburning stove type) fire. I removed the fire a year or so ago which was a mistake. The existing liner was presumably ok but it seemed only just long enough to connect onto the fire and it will now...

    Soldering

I often find myself using compression fittings when doing small DIY jobs but would quite like to learn some soldering. Most plumbers I have come across (when asking me to supply materials) use the solder or yorkie type fittings and add some extra solder. Is this pretty common? Seems like the...

Question re kitchen sink pillar tap stiff operation

Just to report back for the possible benefit of others. On removal one tap gland/valve was pretty well seized so new ones seemed sensible. I got replacement 1/2"BST ones fine with the correct length of splined top (for the original tap handles). However the splines were different in some way and...
