Should one re chase all the new cables in or can you use the old conduit if it is possible to pull new cables through.

When undertaking a rewire for say a house, is it usual practice to replace all the cables? Is there a case for retaining any cabling? Does a rewire include adding and/or moving existing sockets/switches.

Just read a PIR and it states that there is no means of earthing (TT supply with no earth rod). But it also says that the External Loop Impedance is measured at 648ohms. How did they measure that with no supplied earth?
