    Adding single socket here...

Are you hiding in my cupboard? Lol. Everything you've assumed has been correct, very attentive! Yes the blanking plate has been trimmed down to fit. I assumed I could do the same with a socket but I'm assuming there's stuff ok the back of the plate or it's just dangerous? Either way I will...

    Adding single socket here...

Thanks for the reply. I've just checked and it's 16a. The only thing we will be using the new single socket for is a printer, which will be powered on only when we're printing the odd thing. And yes, that's trunking that the loft wiring runs up.

    Adding single socket here...

Hi, Upstairs in our house we have a utility cupboard that used to have a single plug socket in many years ago. We never used it and we had an electrician put some electrics in our loft, he ran a wire from here and up in to the loft, and put a twin socket in the loft and a light, and also put a...

Need to pull this rad pipe to make it fit

Sorted it. Yes it's a double radiator but slim profile. By the time I put the radiator extensions on they only had to be pulled back a few mil to be right. Jobs a good en! Thanks

Need to pull this rad pipe to make it fit

Hey all, I've had to change a central heating radiator in our spare room as the bleeder snapped off. I've had to go from imperial to metric, and I understand I will need extensions to fill the gap. The problem I have is that the new radiator sits further away from the wall than the old one...

New light fitting has an extra wire?

I've managed to get it working by connecting the live wire to L1 of the fitting and also bridging L and L1 together. It works as it should do off my fused spur switch. I've left the battery connected as it does stay lit for a short time which could prove useful. Another question, if I...

New light fitting has an extra wire?

So just wire the live to either L or L1 and test? And not bother connecting L and L1 together?

New light fitting has an extra wire?

That's a good point ^^^ So, if I leave the battery in place. Should I wire up to L/L1 and bridge them together still with a wire?

New light fitting has an extra wire?

Just a single tube. I just want to be able to flick my switch to turn it off/on. Thanks EDIT: I've just noticed a battery inside the unit with a black and red wires coming from it, is there anyway to bypass this and turn it in to a regular light?

Advise on preparing base for small patio

Hi everyone, I've pulled up a load of 30cm flags from my back garden where most of them were just laid on sand. I'm going to be laying a small patio for table and chairs and will be putting new gravel around this area. I've spent a couple of hours researching laying patios but...

Building sand for small patio area?

I have four bags of B&Q builders sand left over from a previous job and was wondering if this would be ok to use for a small patio area for garden table/chairs. The flag stones are 30cm and it will be roughly 7 x 5 flags in size. I've heard about people using sharp sand but would rather...
