If it softwood and being painted I prefer polyurethane, but if it's oak or not being painted it's D4 PVA.

8 screws per jamb should do it, in pairs, 2 - 100mm from the top, 2 - 100mm from the bottom, divide the gap by 3 to get positions for the other two pairs. A couple in the head for alignment. Oh yeh, buy a countersink, countersunk holes are easier to fill.

That is the whole point, the rustic finish... I've used scaffold board for a pletherer of projects outside and most of them have changed shape to a greater or lesser degree, but never inside as shelves....

I have a biscuit jointer but wasn't keen on using that, I don't own a domino, that would be ideal, but I can't justify the cost. I have two makita 1/2 Router's and plenty of sash clamps, so the loose tenon is feasible.

I have been asked to instal scaffold boards as shelves, but with one twist. They want two boards joined to make shelves of variants up to 440mm. The customer/mate will have the brackets fabricated for each run of shelves. I've never done this before and I am concerned that the boards will cup...

Depends exactly where the damage is on the worktop, magic man may be able to do an invisible repair but I doubt it. The OP"s eye will be constantly drawn to it, whereas as a pop up socket is functional, or even a wireless charging point. Just options really.

Whatever you try and do yourself it will prove unsuccessful. You could pay for a "Magic Man" to try and repair it and generally they are very good, but you will be parting with up to £450. Personally I would have the top replaced, but that may not be straight forward either. I once managed...

I don't believe I said religion is "safe" I merely pointed out I don't believe in God. I didn't say it was OK for those that do to wage Holy war in the name of a fictitious deity....

I don't believe there are "Gods" however, if for those that do, it helps them with their lives, then crack on. I can see the social benefit of going to church to worship their imaginary friend, being there will be many like-minded worshippers all jollying along together.

Gods are akin to the invisible friends of childhood. A fictitious notion to help adults cope with the stresses of life by taking sollice in their imaginary friend.

I use this about £3.60 a tube if you buy 12. Grabs rather well, some grab adhesives grab even better if you push the skirting against the wall, pull it off and push it back on or you can shuffle up and down......
