Engineered wood flooring - how best to fit?

Thats exactly what I thought So you wouldn't use glue to stick the underlay down?

Engineered wood flooring - how best to fit?

was about to post a similar question. Just had our enginneered floor delivered, which we planned to glue down with Bona R850 glue. However, the delivery turned up with underlay as well. Why would we want both glue and underlay? Does that make any sense or have they just sold us more stuff...

thow long for concrete to dry?

Hi, about to get our toilet floor tiled. Existing floor was concrete but the builders had to dig out the drainage and the holes have been refilled with concrete - in places this was probably 15cm deep. How long does this need to dry before laying ceramic floor tiles? Our builder seemed to...

    lead flashings on epdm roof?

That doesn't really help! why would they mention it? The guttering and downpipes haven't been done yet and the fascia boards are not finished so maybe they will do the flashing then? Would that be the time to do them?

    lead flashings on epdm roof?

Our builders have just fitted the EPDM to our flat roof extension. Just noticed on their quote it says about code 4 lead flashings. I will ask them obviously but they are away for a few days now. My question is, does the roof have to have these? They haven't mentioned it so I'm wondering whether...

    roof lantern upstand insulation

Hi, we're having a roof lantern fitted in our new flat roof extension. The roof construction is like in this pic (just off the internet) although we only have the timber frame so far. http://www.arsystems.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/DSC_0413-Newbuild.jpg just wondering how is the upstand...

    building over sewer

got the go ahead to build 100mm from the sewer. Thames Water were very helpful and obviously don't stick to the 600mm guidelines...

    building over sewer

Thanks, Yeah will try to put it out of my mind. Guess we will have to lose a bit of space, just hope they won't insist on the full 600mm from footings. If they let us go 300mm or 400mm away we can live with that.

    building over sewer

oldun - or anyone else, Do you have an idea of what it might cost to reroute the drain? are we talking thousands here? or given that its a minor one is it possible they will allow our builders to put two bends in it (and presumably manholes) and move it back a metre? Cheers.

    Planning an extension

I started a thread on this recently as we have discovered a sewer right next to where we want to build. My advice would be to establish where the drains are before even getting an architect. Our architect didn't pick up the sewer that is now causing us a major headache. To be fair it wasn't...

    building over sewer

Well that would be a major spanner in the works. We could come in by 100mm or so, but any more wouldn't be worth it. Next door have built right up to it admittedly before the change of ownership, but surely they can come up with something?

    building over sewer

Thanks. So you mean we can keep the position of the rear wall of the extension as planned, but we need to somehow extend the foundations over the sewer?

    building over sewer

we had an idea there was a sewer but thought it was a few metres further out. There was nothing suggesting it was going to be there at all. Only found out its position the day before.

    building over sewer

They called me today and gave a reference number and said up to 21 days. Yeah I can imagine they get a few urgent applications! Any idea what they are likely to tell us we need to do in terms of foundations? Are we talking bridging over? Guessing we're probably looking at an extra grand or...

    building over sewer

Just found a minor unmapped (but now adopted) sewer running about 200mm out from the back wall of our proposed rear extension (parallel to the propsed line of the back wall) Just submitted a build over application to Thames Water. The sewer is 600mm deep so the foundations go below it, but the...
