Thanks very much. :lol: Both the shower and the bath mixers are transferring cold to hot. The plumber I've got round has suggested fitting a check-flow valve to the hot water pipe into the bathroom. Does this sound ok? Alternatively should I look at pressuring/ pumping the hot water...

Hi, Just got home to see water pouring out of the overflow pipe at the side of the house. I've been up into the attic and determined its the hot water expansion tank. The ballcock is under water and I'm sure that's not the problem as I've switched the cold water feed to it off and the tank...

Hi, I'm just about to put underfloor heating (warm water) in between the joists (400mm centres) in my dining room I want a wooden floor on top. I'm limited in putting too thick a subfloor in as it will insulate heat. Ideally I want to lay a wooden floor straight on top of the joists...

Ignore the above. I switched the boiler thermostat off overnight. Next day whilst running the power shower - cold - (just when the weather's turning), I tried switching the stat back on. The boiler fired up. Go figure. I still had to have a cold shower - still I think it's character building.

Hi tony, I assume what you mean is building regs states that you must have a non-macerator toilet in the dwelling. I should have added this is a second bathroom on the second (english) floor. There is a normal toilet on the floor below.
