Hi everyone,
I’m soon to be laying Indian Sanstone slabs in my garden and am looking for recommendations for a good value slurry primer?
There seems to be loads out there.
Cheers,
Ed
Hi,
I’m going to lay some concrete edging (915mm x 150mm x50mm ) in the next few days. I’ve seen a few videos where the concrete is quite dry under the concrete edging blocks and then wetter for the haunching. Is this what I should be aiming for?
Many thanks,
Ed
I'm soon to be doing this and wondered what you do with the joints between the slabs on the overhang since there will be just air beneath the slabs at that point?
Cheers,
Ed
Thanks,
I will get planning on sketch up then. I need to count up how many slabs of each size I have as the ground worker got me them and I’m not sure if they are a complete set or not.
Some places quote the sizes as:
900 x 600
600 x 600
600 x 290
290 x 290
Others have the 290 x 290 as 295...
Hi,
I will soon be ready to lay the Indian Sandstone Paving slabs that I have acquired. I have x2 15m² packs so a total of 30m². The area I have to cover is shown in the attached image and is not square however the area at the bottom right is square. The diagram shows the 100x100mm edging...
Hi Everyone,
I'm going to be installing an Aco channel drain (Raindrain) soon. I will need 3 and a bit sections for the job so I will have to make a cut in one. My question is can I make a cut anywhere along the section then fit an end cap to it? I'm hoping so but It wasn't clear from the docs...
Hi everyone,
I'm building a patio from Indian sandstone slabs and have planned to install an Aco RainDrain channel drain at one end of it (see drawing). The fall is 1:80 towards the drain. The drain will be about 3.3m long. My question is do I need to have a fall on the aco drain? I wasn't...
I'm (still) currently in the process of building a patio area and coming to the end of the excavation. I have a bedding area around the patio of about 800mm deep which will be planted with plants eventually. I want to maximise the space for plants so don't want the subbase to got too far into...
A block of that will be below ground level. Just haven’t shown the finished level infront of the wall. I used rebar at regular intervals around the wall too. But yeah could have done, would make electrics a bit easier.
Hi everyone,
I’m building a small retaining wall (yes still building it ) and am now thinking about lighting. The blocks are up and I’m shortly sorting the patio subbase out when the weather gets a bit warmer. I’d like to put some lights at 3 locations along the front of the wall (see diagram)...
That is a good point @Godwasaplasterer. Does it need water proofing? I am building a small retaining wall with a cross section as shown in the diagram below. What is the best thing to do with the earth side of the wall? Render? Bitumen? or leave it? or something else?
I was also planning to put...
Having had success with the hammer and bolster I now realise I need cut a lot more blocks and also slithers too so I think I may need a angle grinder/disc cutter. I've had a look at the evolution disc cutter above and I also saw that people were mentioning 9inch cutters from Makita and Dewalt. I...
Yes, that would have been the easiest thing but I would also have to dig out a lot of earth from next door to get access which I want to avoid. I might be able to slap some render on it, it doesn't have to be pretty as no one is going to see it. Just thought there might be something I could...
Hi everyone.
I'm building a concrete block retaining wall using 140mm x 215mm x 440mm blocks (see model below). The plan is to render the blocks however the return highlighted on the left hand side of the image runs by the boundary fence. I haven't drawn the fence in the model which is why you...
Just a quick update. I used a hammer and bolster to cut a few blocks yesterday and all went well. Taking a little longer than I first thought but I haven't broken one yet. I will need a grinder for some though as I need to cut a notch section (see below):
Thanks guys. I've decided I'm going with the Hammer and Bolster since I've already got these and I've now watched copious youtube videos. They make it look so easy!
On another note - regarding concrete (which is coming on Thursday) I have a few areas which I've shuttered using plywood. Although...
