    Still leaking..:( help please

Hugh... the small window used to be a wc and is in fact in the process of being reinstated as a wc. That drains straight into the manhole seen by the window. I’m really curious what’s under the slab too.. part of me wants to lift it, the other part is thinking am I creating a bigger problem for...

I think Ive worked out - putting everyones advice together - and put together a bit of a plan of action... its a bit of a simple picture but hopefully it explains what Im planning to do..

    Still leaking..:( help please

Thanks for your response John.. The bizarre thing is about the damp is that the floor inside is concrete but isn't damp... its as if the gulley is leaking and running along a ridge in the brickwork.. As for the water, everything water run is at the back of the house, but we dont have a meter, so...

    Still leaking..:( help please

Right... John.. you mentioned about a soakaway or different drainage system.... on the pics you'll see what Ive always described as a rain drain.. lol... goodness knows what leads to this... The first thing Ive noticed is the soil pipe and the water pipes literally sit on top of each other...

    Still leaking..:( help please

Thanks John.. I’m going to post a few more pictures shortly... pipes are crossing over and I think they must not join until they reach the shared sewer that runs along the back of our houses..

    Still leaking..:( help please

I’ll take some pictures shortly of the nearest manhole but it’s not really close to the location... I have looked though and there is only one pipe passing through it.

    Still leaking..:( help please

Ive dug a little further along the pipe and theres another 'turn' which seems to have a pipe fitted into the collar at an angle to achieve a 'turn'.. it doesn't seem to be leaking, but is it normal to achieve bends in this way with the crock pipe?

    Still leaking..:( help please

Thanks for your reply Ian... I was thinking of changing the gulley as-well, as I cant be sure that even that isnt cracked at the back as its backed up to the wall.. I am wondering how there was ever a secure joint between the pipe and the gulley with it being at such an angle..

    Still leaking..:( help please

So.. I just wanted to make a little update on my post, as so many people offered some fantastic advice when I initially posted it.... Finally, today, after finishing numerous other jobs, I had some time on my hands after work so thought I would start digging a bit just to start tracking the...

    Hole Cutting help

Hi all... I’m in need of some help cutting a hole in a ceramic tile I’m laying in our downstairs loo. The waste pipe for the toilet is in the concrete floor and typically in laying the tiles out square to the room before fixing them, I’ve found that the toilet waste falls onto a full tile. I...

    Still leaking..:( help please

Thanks everyone... i was gutted when the damp continued after my efforts at sorting the waste pipes going into the grid didnt fully solve it, although, I do think they were a contributing factor, and disguising a clearly bigger issue with the underground drainage... Work is a bit manic at the...

    Still leaking..:( help please

Thanks ever so much guys!! I’ll get my shovel out later and set to digging later... depending on what I find, is the joint between the crock and the pvc waste pipe difficult to replace? It looks shoddy and pretty crappy as it is but in honesty doesn’t feel damp enough to be the cause of the...

    Still leaking..:( help please

hmmm... i think im not going to avoid digging the whole lot out and exposing it all... I did hope it would be where the soil pipe goes into the crock but I cant see anything obvious...... that said, I need to have a proper look. My theory was it was leaking slightly there and running along the...

    Still leaking..:( help please

Hi guys... So, i recently posted about water spilling out of my gulley... Ive built a surround for the gulley, fed waste pipes into it deeper and covered with a leaf cover... all sorted.. or so I thought. I still have damp along the brick line of my house.. Both soil pipe and drain pass along...

    Pipes into gulley

Hi there.. I recently posted about fitting pipes into a gully grid to aim water into the drain better. Ive looked into doing the job today and realised that the current grid is 9" square and cast iron... Ive looked online and all the 9" ones seem to be cast iron. Essentially I want to pass...

    Gulley grid replacement

Hi Ken.. No, whats happening - and I only know since watching my wife drain a bath this afternoon - is that the water is coming down the rain water pipe (the bathroom sink and bath link pour out into a collection box type thing further up the pipe) and hitting the grid... in turn the majority...

    Gulley grid replacement

Thanks for your reply newboy... its the actual grid itself that I would like to replace so that I can pass the pipes through the grid itself.

    Gulley grid replacement

Hi there.. I know this may seem a pretty basic question.. but....... I am replacing my gulley grid. 2 pipes go into my current drain, a 40mm one and a bigger one (technical I know..). Ive found that the water coming out of the pipe spills over the grid and runs along the wall of the house...
