I have a single light wired in the following configuration http://i1139.photobucket.com/albums/n547/spud1962/2way_cable_save.gif with the exception that each of the 2 switches have 4 terminals ( originally designed for "intermediate" 3 way switching use). I'm not sure how to wire the...

    Installation Budget

mmm... thanks all for the feedback, fellas, ...but that wasn't the question. Forget: "How many days will it take?" Q: what would you expect a plumber to charge for a day's labour? ta

    Installation Budget

I am trying to budget for a new central heating boiler. I am having an old free-standing boiler removed a new combi installed, removing a hw cylinder in the bathroom & loft tank. I would estimate 2 days labour would be involved. Any ideas what a plumber would charge for 2 DAYS LABOUR in...

    Kitchen odour driving me crazy!

I'm being driven crazy by a smell coming into my kitchen extension. The "rancid" sort of smell like a dried up old mop or dirty dishcloth that has been stagnating. The smell is strongest along the inside of the outside wall, but it does not smell outside. i've checked the outside...

    EARTHING a renovated stand lamp

I am currently renovating/rewiring an old brass stand lamp. Although the brass lampholders are earthed via an earthing connection on the holders themselves, I can't maintain earth continuity throughout the entire stand iteself because of the many metal sections the stand is made up of. How...

    Light switch required, please.

Hi Chri5 / lectrician Thanks for your feedback. Yep. I have seen these in abundance, but my challenge was to find a torpedo style switch in line with the original "retro" design. You see, I have an old victorian stand lamp and a modern in line switch looks kind of silly.

    Light switch required, please.

Hi Does anyone know where i can get a switch like this, please? It's from an old brass stand lamp. I would like to keep the same style of switch. I have seen "square-in line" style versions for table lamps etc., but can't find this "torpedo" type. any help?

    Bath overflow pipe 25mm compression

I’m looking to replace a cracked overflow pipe on my bath. The existing pipe is “flexible” in the middle with Straight ends of a diameter of 25mm. I can’t find a coupler (compression joint) that will connect to the thread on the bath waste which is just a bit smaller than a “standard”...

    Diswasher water inlet extension

Thanks guys! But, for this "extension" to work, one end needs to be "male". My dishwasher has an "electronic sensor" device at the inlet/tap end which cannot be removed. If this is the only way, then i will get one of these with a male/male coupler (see my original post) Regards

    Diswasher water inlet extension

Does anyone know of a generic "extension" pipe, suitable for the water inlet pipe of a dishwasher ? About a meter long would be ok I imagine I could use a 3/4" male/male brass coupling and a washing machine inlet pipe, but perhaps there could be something better. My dishwasher...

    Certification Needed ?

So, the kitchen company who employs the "installer" must pay for this..?I have paid the "kitchen company" for "full" installation of all applicances. I had no idea that any electrics were going to be moved. Indeed I have it in writing that "no electrics" we needed prior to the installation...

    Certification Needed ?

I have had new kitchen units installed at home, and the "installer" has extended the kitchen ringmain by about 4 meters (to provide a supply to more new appliances). Do I need to ask for any certification, once the work has been completed? The "ringmain" was "extended" once before (1 year...
