How much work in adding inhibitor to CH system?

A leak in the pipework installed by the CH installers from hell that has been dripping for over 3 months has finally been located and rectified. However, the CH installers from hell refuse to add any inhibitor to the system even though i've lost gallons of water over the months and had to...

WB 30CDi losing pressure daily but no air in system

No charge from the nice WB engineer. :) My original CH installers were the installers from hell. A verbal quote of £3K for a basic CH system in a 3-bed semi ended up costing me £7K. As for no confidence in original CH installers: No room/house sizing, no BTU calculations to size the...

WB 30CDi losing pressure daily but no air in system

Oh well, it's the worst case scenario for me. The WB engineers was satisfied that the boiler wasn't leaking. The original CH installers are coming out next week to take a look - something i'm dreading as I have no confidence in their skills.

WB 30CDi losing pressure daily but no air in system

The boiler, and the entire CH system is only around 3 months old. Could the expansion vessel lining have perished so quickly?

WB 30CDi losing pressure daily but no air in system

I'm not bothered about being charged. I see it as the boiler losing pressure. I just need the problem fixed.

WB 30CDi losing pressure daily but no air in system

WB are coming out tomorrow. I'm hoping it's an issue with the boiler as the whole house has just been fully decorated. It would be awful to have to lift brand new flooring and carpets up!

WB 30CDi losing pressure daily but no air in system

My WB 30CDi combi boiler is losing around 0.5 bar of pressure daily. However, when I bleed the rads, there is no air in the system. What could be causing this? I have the 5-year WB guarantee so i'm hoping it's simply a boiler-related issue and not related to the pipework or rads.

    Bamboo flooring

What should I look for when it comes to bamboo flooring? From what I can gather, strand-woven is a much tougher type of bamboo flooring. Is this the one to get? What about 'horizontal' and 'vertical' bamboo flooring? I guess i'm just looking for advice on which would be best on a tight budget.

Mains socket screws not holding faceplate securely

Not 100% sure. I think it's a bit of both!

Mains socket screws not holding faceplate securely

I've got a decorative faceplate on a double-socket but i'm having some trouble securing the faceplate to the metal box. The screws don't seem to hold properly - they move relaitively freely in and out of the fixing holes. I'd want to avoid replacing the metal box so was wondering how I can...

Dremel bits - what do they do?

How can I find out what all the bits in the polythene bag supplied with my Dremel do?I bought a cordless Dremel tool and it came with a bag of bits. However, I have no idea what they're for! Some of them are obvious (like the drill bits) but many are a mystery to me.

    Need to file down glass

Okay, i've just bought a Dremel so will file down the plastic on the back of the socket faceplate. Cheers for the advice.

    Need to file down glass

I have several large pieces of 6mm thick glass glued to my kitchen walls to provide a splashback feature. They are approx 800mm x 800mm in size. Some of these pieces of glass have a pre-cut hole in them so that a double mains socket can be fixed onto the wall. I have just replaced the...

    Good quality underlay

I've seen the following two underlays that seem highly rated on a shop site: - Carpenters Deep Step PU Carpet Underlay (11mm) - Cloud 9 Cumulus PU Carpet Underlay (11mm) - Tredaire Dreamwalk Underlay (11mm) These underlays work out fairly reasonable in cost terms if a full 15 square...

Tile or paint basin splashback area?

I'm in two minds about tiling the splashback area around a bathroom basin. Most of the walls are going to be painted with bathroom paint but I have concerns about the basin splashback area. Would bathroom paint be okay or do I really need this area tiled? Ideally I would just like it painted but...

    Laminate flooring and skirting boards

My decorators would like to hold off the fixing of skirting boards in my lounge until i've decided whether i'm going for carpets or laminate flooring. They say that if I decide to go for laminate flooring then the skirting boards need to be fixed aferwards, on top of the flooring. I really...

    Alternatives to block-paving for driveways?

I'm looking to get my front garden turned into a driveway. I would normally just opt for block-paving but am considering alternatives. The costs need to be close to a block-paved driveway, so what are the current modern laternatives to block-paving for driveways?
