    So i was right it is heat damage. Does that suggest that the socket is functioning ok but the fan heater and it's plug are dodgy?

    The socket is brand new. No there was no physical damage or brute force causing a crack? It's heat related.

    The story gets worse. An electrician replaced the cracked socket with a new one last week and tonight i could smell something weird from the fan heater/plug (which was hot) . The new socket has cracked as shown;

    Are there any other ways to fill a wall-gap in without mortar (as shown here)? If not what tips do you have for cementing this gap in?

    The wall? I don't know, it isn't brick as such i think. I wouldn't call out his competence as the other sockets he replaced were fine.

    What's the best filler to use to caulk around gaps in a socket? Is the gap in this socket (photos) too wide to caulk around? .

    About a year or so so yeah , new. Before were patio doors , i got rid of them because i thought they were causing a leak.

    The outside of the French Doors as seen in photo look totally sealed up.

    But the water is coming from inside the walls of the house it looks like. Nothing to do with the French Windows in the dining room.

    So it was built badly? It's a Barratt's house from the mid 70s. Apparently yes the walls has gaps.

    It's not coming through the top of the French Doors at all..it's above that in the ceiling. Any idea why / what's causing it? Here is the outside photo attached.
