    250mm footings or raft

My garage will be a double skin of 4 inch block and i would not build a garage without dpc in it even if it was a single skin. There will be dpc going in the double skinned and heavy gauge under the slab either 1200 heavy guage or radon barrier.

    cement per blocks ?

Going to need a few tons for between the slab and hardcore. Thats why ill be getting 10ton in. Im sure itll take another 5 or more plastering sand for the rendering! If the slab is 11x8x 50mm that works out at 4.4 ton!

    cement per blocks ?

I hear ya however weve always used 3:1 building here. Have also seen plasterers use 3:1 rendering but for me, thats to strong a mix. I prefer to use 4:1 scratch and 5:1 finish coat. Any walls i build, its a 3:1 and have never had 1 issue yet.

    cement per blocks ?

Best to have them there for the block layers. Wouldnt want them running out. Going to get 10ton building sand is also. If dont use it all, im sure ill use it elsewhere.

    cement per blocks ?

Itll be concrete 4inch blocks at a 3:1 or 4:1 mix. Have never used a 5:1 mix building, only in rendering.

Extra galvanised bracing on garage trusses and how many slates.

If the roof pitch is 35 degrees and the length of the rather is 5.3. with 600x300 slates, how many rows of battens would i need to get me to the ridge. Once i have this measurement i can work out how many slates ill need.

25 bags it is then, any left over will do for the plastering. Thank you.

    cement per blocks ?

I will not be laying the blocks for this. I do lay blocks for garden walls and small sheds but not for large garages and houses. Its an 8x8m garage but maybe making it bigger to 10 or 11mx8. Like i said, just trying to work out a rough estimate for all materials. If your saying 3 ton is enough...

    cement per blocks ?

Ive worked in construction my whole life(from 14-15 yr old, now in mid 40s) Its just i have never calculated how much cement needed per 1000. Im trying to work out a rough estimate for a garage ill be building in summertime while im off now...

    Roof diagonal cross bracing

Thats why i was considering the scissor lift. But if it comes to it, i will get the teleporter.

    Roof diagonal cross bracing

Wouldnt even consider it if they where over 200kg but i think 80kg is manageable with 3 to 4 men. I bench more in the gym plus the weight of the trusses is spread out more. .

    250mm footings or raft

The raft is working out more expensive. All that extra steel and working tieing it, installing is throwing the price up more.

    250mm footings or raft

Hi, See pics of site. My house was built in 97 and the land around me is reasonably good. I will be building a garage on the location you see in pics. Land is reasonably good and has limestone chippings on it whre i park my cars/van. The garage will be 8x8 but considering making it larger to 10...

    Roof diagonal cross bracing

Before half the trusses are on, put the rest up on the wall plate resting on the gable and rest on the trusses. Then when its time to set out, just run one over at a time. Have did this many times with smaller trusses. The opening for the garage door is is 4.5m wide x 4m high. But even if it...

    Roof diagonal cross bracing

I agree in certain sites however this is a garage with a 4.5m opening. They can be carried into garage, one end up on the wall plate, then the other then lifted up. If it comes to it, i will hire a teleporter but would prefer to keep costs down. Cranes are much more expensive than teleporters...
