Water main in way of new sewer pipe

Yeah, I wasn't sure if it was better practice to go above or under? Does it matter flow wise if I put effectively a U shape in that straight run?

Water main in way of new sewer pipe

Hi there, I'm just in process of running a new drain connection (about 15-20m length in total). I've got to point where unfortunately the water main is coming across at a right angle exactly in it's path. It's currently a 15mm copper main. I have future plans to replace it, but not for a...

    New drain connection advice

Yeah it does seem coincidental. But there is zero smell from it. And I would assume if it was leaking though that the water levels would equalise, which currently they aren’t?

    New drain connection advice

Yeah it still seems to work and was serviced recently. So I guess will see what BC says on Friday. I agree ideally an IC would be best, but means a lot more digging and pumping to get proper access

    New drain connection advice

Hi there, I'm in process of running a new drain at front of house for a new upstairs bathroom. I've dug out where it needs to connect to and got a rough idea of what I hope to do now. I've got the building inspector coming at end of week but wanted to check views here first. As you can see...

    Help with conservatory change

Hi there, I think this is a common question but here we go... I've got an existing conservatory that I inherited when bought a maisonette flat. See attached photo. It has a glass roof which is leaking due to glazing bags having sagged. Also about 1/3 of wall glazing has blown and needs...

    False ceiling

Hi there, Hopefully a quick one. Got a false ceiling to put up under a concrete ceiling so can get downlights in. It's about 3m by 2.77m. Do you think I can get away with 2x4 for that span? And any recommendations for type and quantity of fixings for the 3m timber attached to walls? And are...

    Garden Lighting Advice

Hi there, I have an outside power point which i would like to utilise for some garden lighting. I would like to have 2 areas of lighting - each with about 4 x 50w Low voltage spike spotlights. The first zone is about 20m from power and the 2nd about 30m from power. Owing to voltage drop...

Shed base options for 3.6x6m shed

I'm currently planning/pricing a shed 3.6m x 6m and need some advice on the base which I'm planning to do in timber. Using the 3.6m to span my joists - I was going to use 2x8 so to avoid having a centre support, else I will use 2x6 and have a centre support. My local timber merchants stock...

    Length of floor notch

So I can't seem to find anyway on regs that limits the length of a notch in a floor joist... So my joist is 175mm deep and 3300mm span. I believe this allows me a notch 22mm deep between 330mm and 825mm in from the wall. However, what I cant see is where it says how long a single notch can...

    Exterior lighting wiring

Lol yes, quite right. I currently have a build regs application open which should cover this. So when you said loop by all means. did you mean loop from one light to another, rather than having two live light cables coming from switch? thanks

Hi there, I am just knocking an opening for some french doors at the moment and we are planning on lighting for the exterior. We will be having a lantern type light outside on either side of the french doors (not with PIR) with a 1 gang switch on the inside to control it and I was wondering...
