How long for extractor fan timer?

I have a new bathroom extractor fan, its timer is set by default to continue to run for 35min when turned off. This feels long and it’s a small bathroom, is there a way to calculate how long an extractor fan should run based on the room size?

    Very stiff pneumatic toilet flush

It’s already a bit stiff when not connected, worse when connected. There doesn’t appear to be a kink. This is the first pneumatic flush I’ve had, so I’m not sure what a reasonable amount of pressure is?

    Very stiff pneumatic toilet flush

Hi all, I’ve had a Geberit concealed toilet cistern installed with a pneumatic dual-flush button. The flush button is very very difficult to push, once pushed it does flush but it requires a lot of effort. Is this normal for a pneumatic flush button?

Are sound-proofed vent tiles available on the market, or are they all a standard model? This is for a slate roof.

Preventing traffic noise through bathroom vent

Would something like this in the wall do the trick, or would I also need to look at a special duct or something else? - https://www.extractorfanworld.co.uk/airflow-icon-eco15-extractor-fan-72683501-210-p.asp

Preventing traffic noise through bathroom vent

Hi all, I am getting my bathroom refitted. The bathroom is top floor and facing onto a busy main road with lots of traffic. There isn’t currently an extractor fan. Initially the plan was to fit the extractor fan into the wall, but I’m concerned this will allow all the traffic noise to come...

Wooden door not locking - misaligned locks?

I have a wooden door that is no longer locking. Both the latch and the main lock don’t align, which suggests it’s a problem with the door itself rather than the individual locks. The only way to get it to lock is to push the door upwards by 1mm while turning the key and, with some significant...

2 wires going into 1 terminal in dimmer switch?

Any issue with just connecting the earth wire to the faceplate instead of the back box?

2 wires going into 1 terminal in dimmer switch?

Does this literally just involve cutting a piece of wire and connecting the ground terminal in the back box with the ground terminal on the switch? It can do but the minimum brightness on the switch is programmable so I’ve increased it.

2 wires going into 1 terminal in dimmer switch?

Thanks, makes sense. It was fiddly to screw the two wires into a single terminal so I was wondering about whether this configuration is safe, but seems to be expected given it’s a two-way circuit (downstairs and upstairs switches for lighting on a corridor landing). The ground wire was...

2 wires going into 1 terminal in dimmer switch?

I replaced a 1-gang 2-way dimmer switch. The existing switch had 2 wires going into L1 and two into L2. Picture attached - note there are 4 red wires, 2 in each terminal. I wired it in the same way for the new dimmer switch, and it does work. But I’m wondering why there are two wires going...

    Repairing kitchen worktop chipped corner

Hi all, I have a kitchen worktop which is chipped in the corner, see attached photo. The rest of the worktops and the units are in decent condition and I’d rather see if I can repair/fix up the corner first rather than replacing all the worktops and kitchen. Any suggestions on how it could...

    Carpet underlay is moving

They were tightly fitted in the room before though without gaps at the edges. There is now a 1cm gap appearing between them. I don’t see how 1cm can physically appear?

    Carpet underlay is moving

I have soundproofing underlay panels under a carpet. The underlay has been there for many years and the carpet was replaced 6 years ago. In the past year, I’ve noticed gaps forming between the panels (the gap is noticeable through the carpet). How is this possible?

Are these downlights halogen or LED? Could they catch fire?

Hi, I have an electrician who installed some dimmable downlights. They are meant to be LED. I went in the loft above the ceiling to look at them. They have a tag on them which says 'Saxby 52334 GU10 halogen'. Also, they are surrounded by insulation. Please see the attached photos. Does this...

    Is this wiring safe?

Hi, please see attached the other side with the new socket. The older plug socket in the first photo from which the cable runs from is in a cupboard.
