I'm only confused with all this talk of CPCs to be honest!
From the sounds of it I can simply remove the wires from the ceiling rose and attach directly to the new block with both earth wires attached to the earth terminal.
...I think!
Cheers
Hi,
The new fitting has a plastic block for connecting 3 wires - earth, live, neutral.
What im saying is that the old fitting which was class I has the earth wire connected to the metal casing, which you wouldnt do with class II as far as im aware!
Hmm I am a little more confused now than when i started!
The original fitting was class I but the new one is class II so i cannot rewire it the same way anyway.
Any ideas?
Thanks, so is it OK to attach both earth wires to the same connection point in the new box?
Prentice - i dont know what singles are...!
the new fitment simply has a black tube to feed the wires too which leads to a white box with the three screw to attach the wires.
Hi all,
This is my first attempt at DIY on light fittings and really want to make sure i'm doing everything 100% correct before electrocuting myself!
I have taken down my old light fitting, which was metal, and i'm putting up a new one which is fully insulated.
The old light fitting had...
They are painted with a glossy finish, and I just want to strip them back to the original wood.
My flat is a 1930s build and these appear to be the original doors. They are very heavy, and no they are not solid, as there is a a space inside them.
What makes you say that foxhole?
They are solid wood and are pretty heavy - I would say they are pretty good quality doors as they go.
What indicates you otherwise, maybe i'm missing something?
Thanks
Hi,
I am planning to have my internal doors stripped - and was wondering if anyone can identify the type of wood it is from the pattern?
Can anyone also suggest a finish for the doors that would keep them looking as natural as possible?
Thank you!!
Joe
I will try to upload a pic - but basically I guess all that I'm asking is can existing lighting cable be attached to a new (and prettier) cable which will dangle from my ceiling!
Hi,
I hope this makes sense as it's a little tricky to describe. I have a ceiling rose and the cable has been chased behind the plaster and emerges later down the hallway where my light fitment is places.
I want to install a new pendant light in place of the current light, but I want to...
Wow thanks for all the responses, thats really helpful. However I still cant get them open! It actually looks like the gland nut on my tap is not separate to the rest of the tap body. I'm a little worried of damaging the tap.
Hi,
Has anyone come across these type of taps before? I need to replace a washer but cannot seem to open them and I dont want to damage them! I can't work out where the access point is![/img]
