Hi,

I hope this makes sense as it's a little tricky to describe. I have a ceiling rose and the cable has been chased behind the plaster and emerges later down the hallway where my light fitment is places.

I want to install a new pendant light in place of the current light, but I want to use the cabling that comes with the pendant. Is it therefore possible to attach the new pendant wiring to the existing wiring?

Any advice for a complete newbie much appreciated.

I will try to upload a pic - but basically I guess all that I'm asking is can existing lighting cable be attached to a new (and prettier) cable which will dangle from my ceiling!

I would be worried about the attitude to quality and competence and proper work etc of anybody who would do something like that.

How long have you lived there? Any other evidence of a bodger at work?

No bodge job. My ceilings are solid concrete and so unless you want cables running along the ceiling this is the only way!
