Wood burning stove fitted tomorrow, what to expect?

Good memory but no. It's a much larger one in our main reception room. Anyway day 1 has been - remarkably little mess but they pulled an entire van-load of rubble out of there (like a dozen trubs plus wheelbarrows when they ran out).

    Retaining wall

Hi to theoldun , can you enlighten me as to what you would advise then. I thought the RSJ's would need to be against the wall , ie on the farmers side? Don't have access to all those helicopters but do have a wheelbarrow. Be interested on your thoughts

    Moving Hardcore

I need to move a load of hardcore.... recommend any good wheelbarrows etc? Went to B&Q where I was met with rusty items with flat tyres and plastic hanldes missing. They offered a discount, but they were in a right state. Travis Perkins any good?

    6.5% - at a price !

Concerned about the precarious state of the financial institutions, empip withdraws all his savings from the Bradford & Bingley, and looks for a hiding place at home

    swine took my wrench

Well, to redress the balance a little, carpet fitters nicked my Hammer, landscape gardener nicked my wheelbarrow and hacksaw (and di d a sh**e job as well). Can't really complain about the barrow though, 'cos previos builder left it behind!

    Durabase conservatory base concrete pads

For 5 pads, I would just be mixing myself. I can’t imagine it would need that much material...but I’ve not done any calcs for you situation. A ton bag of ballast, a few bags of cement, wheelbarrow and hire a cement mixer for a day. Jobs a goodun.

TIMBER GARAGE - BASE AND SUBBASE:

Hi - thanks for that :) . I think concrete price varies by region - I'm in Horsham, Sussex (but I don't earn megabucks! :| ). I was offered a dumper for an extra £40 which is not bad and would save a lot of wheelbarrow trips, especially as I won't be mob-handed for this job.

    Wheel barrow!

A DIY forum may not necessarily be the best place to ask, but does anyone know the kind of shop that would sell an inner tube for a wheelbarrow? Mine gave out catastrophically - I can get online, but want to use it tomorrow so a high street shop is ideal.

Your lack of knowledge regards the building trade is staggering. Don't ever give up that paintbrush pal. (y)

    Waste

The point is, are you a dedicated public servant seeking to obtain the best for the nation or are you a corrupt self-serving toad looking for ways to help out your buddies by tipping taxpayers money into their wheelbarrow?

    Outside boiler pipe guard

Probably would be a ball ache if it was at the ground level.

Oversite to Suspended timber ground floor

Good point. Probably going to be a lot of hand dig as Rear extension with only a wheelbarrow wide path access! but as retired now I don't have anything better to do!!!!

    Foundation ground level

Are we talking about an extra wheelbarrow of ground and £5 worth of concrete? If the BCO is worried about 80mm over 4300mm, then he wants pushing in the trench prior to concreting But to answer the question, it is the suitability of the ground which matters, so if its suitable at...

    Roof Moss

Hi All I've just jet washed my roof and now have a wheelbarrow of moss. No chemicals used, just blasted with water. Any benefits for the garden or should I just dump it? Probably also includes fine particles of my clay roof tiles. Cheers Doug

    Tip of the iceberg

No chance. I was legally entitled so I kept the lot! Topped up my retirement fund handsomely, thank you very much. ;)

    Anyone know about calculating concrete.

You would be insane not to let one or two of these chaps do the barrowing. How easy is that? You won't beat it.

    dry/mixed concrete bags opinions

Wickes and co have bags of pre mixed concrete......often enough its just the sand and aggregate that is mixed, and the cement is in its own bag on the top. If you don't want to use Postcrete - which is generally fine - I'd buy the ingredients separate and mix them in a wheelbarrow. John :)
