    Soldering torch and gas recommendation

We use the Rothenberger at work with MAP gas, excellent torch and very durable (it has been dropped a few times!).

    Soldering torch and gas recommendation

Rothenberger is good, but you pay for the name. The Bernzomatic TS7000 is the torch I use and is virtually the same as the Rothy. It's £38 cheaper...

The Benzomatic in the link is a lot cheaper than the rotty - and looks the same

Rothenberger Super Fire 2 is expensive but does work consistantly well upside down/back to front etc etc https://www.screwfix.com/p/rothenberger-super-fire-2-brazing-torch/68635

How to stop torch melting existing joint?

...to (maybe) do some soldering, on 15mm pipework, using solder-ring fittings. I've done a bit of soldering before, the torch is a nice Rothenberger. But I'm not vastly experienced, so I think that I tend to use too much heat (though I could be wrong). The only joint that's leaked was joining...

    Plumbers starter tool kit.

Okay, you could give him a screwfix voucher, but it might get wasted on a lot of unnecessary, or poorly judged tools, so why not get him a good gas gun that he'd struggle to justify on his own. He can pick up the smaller bits and pieces as he needs them, and so spread the cost.

Pressure testing UFH prior to screed....

Thanks gents. I'm going to hire a rothenberger rp50 , wet test defo seems worth it, with around 350+m of pipe prior to screening, the water will prove much easier to locate a potential leak.

    New blow torch: Which one?

We use a Rothenberger at work, very handy not having to drag the big welding bottles out for unseizing bolts etc on motorcycles. Very well made bit of kit, we have the yellow bottles (MAP).

    New blow torch: Which one?

...soldering 15mm to 28mm pipe, using it for heating rusted fittings on cars etc and maybe the odd bit of brazing. I was leaning towards a Rothenberger Superfire 2 but read that its output is a bit on the oil rig flare stack. Is that improved with a swirl tip? Or would the pros no longer touch...

    Useful plumbing tools?

Have 15mm compression fittings. Nothing in the house has 22mm pipework as far as I can tell. I bought a rothenberger pipe cutter which seemed to work pretty well. With adjustable spanners, is there a good or preferred brand? This would be all for my own home, so using old towels and the wife's...

Potterton ProMax Combi - Flush and Clean Sludge (micro-bore system)

The horizontal short piece i really tight to get to, its so tight that i cannot even get my hand in there to touch that pipe. If I cut it on the red line that I drew as it's coming back down the side of the boiler, can I use a push fit coupler to extend the pipe down or should I solder a new...

Potterton ProMax Combi - Flush and Clean Sludge (micro-bore system)

I actually meant cut the horizontal piece that comes out of the boiler, but I guess you could cut there too. Search for "solder mat", Rothenberger do some decent ones.

Rothenberger 22mm Pipeslice - is this right?

...have used a monument mini cutter quite happily for many years but since I couldn't source a spare wheel locally I decided to purchase a Rothenberger automatic pipeslice from Screwfix here. From experience using the adjustable mini slice it does leaves a burr but it is quite small and easily...

...its thesame as the one pictured. Does anyone know how I can open it, I have tried the following to no avail.
