Mixing Old Velux (S06) With New Flashing (SK06)

Hi, I've been searching all over the Web, and cannot seem to find the answer. Can I use SK06 flashing with S06 windows? Currently I have a hole in my roof with a S06 going in (ebay bargain), and a brand new flashing. Just clocked the 'new generation' sticker and don't want to open the...

Space Saver Stairs Vs Steep Normal Stairs

38 degrees would be nice. But when you have only 2360mm floor space to rise 2640mm - soon run out of options! :D

Space Saver Stairs Vs Steep Normal Stairs

Thank you for replying, but I did specifically state "regulations aside". I can't see space savers being that pleasant to use and our 1900 terrace stairs were made at approx 50 degrees anyway.

Space Saver Stairs Vs Steep Normal Stairs

All things being equal, and regulations aside.... what do you consider to be safer.... A. 48 degree 'normal'' stairs B. 56 degree 'space saver' stairs Thanks :D

    Removing Purlin Supports / Struts

Any idea on the cost of the spliced beam? The whole ones down stairs were about £100 each, which in the grand scheme of things is pocket money compared to what was spent on plasterboard or screws or carpet or whatever!

    Removing Purlin Supports / Struts

Yeh I knew there would be some murmurings about that. The upshot is that firstly due to the open plan ground floor there is literally no way of being "building regs compliant". The kitchen is open plan to the lounge and the exits are on the opposite side to the stairs. Secondly we have no...

    Removing Purlin Supports / Struts

Hi all, I'm looking to remove the diagonal struts in the loft as part of a "half-conversion". I did some time ago instruct a SE to do the calculations for this alongside some other works about a year ago. I'm now in a position to start, so have started to look at these in detail. The...

    DIY 12ft x 4ft Apex Shed

Hi, Long time lurker, occasional poster here! :D I have a mid terraced house with an unused side return since moving the back door to exit from the kitchen straight into the garden. I am in the process of turning this into storage for my tools etc, which will be safe as it can be from...

Replacing A British Gas WR1 Controller

Replacing A British Gas WR1 Controller

Hi, British Gas installed our CH about 5yrs ago with remote thermostat connected to the WR1 receiver (a rebranded Drayton unit I'm told). Some time ago the thermostat packed up, tried all the reset procedures etc, but the screen would not even come on. Anyway, in our whole refurbishment...

Underfloor insulation: will I get damp problems??

We've done exactly the same with kingspan between the joists, sure I read on the Energy Trust website 10% of heat loss is through the floor a while back. Can't really comment on exactly what difference it made as we went from just floorboard and laminate, to kingspan, underlay and thick...

Lights Tripping Out After New Plastering?!

Lights Tripping Out After New Plastering?!

Lights Tripping Out After New Plastering?!

It instantly trips when connected up now. I did then hook up the light as per the diagram on the wiki here which tripped again, regardless of if switch is on or off.
