    Floating wall unit kitchen project

Bit of an unusual project, i have (laboriously) designed a set up that uses 2 cut down wall cabinets (about 200mm deep) suspended above a breakfast bar. my question is about supporting these two cabinets, the plan is to bolt them together (lenght ways) onto a third strengthened cabinet shell...

replacing wall switches, sockets etc - legal?

I wasn't totally sure of this one so just checking on what may be a stupid question.... Can you legally replace sockets light switches etc yourself? (I'm only talking about the face plate not the cage aswell.) As odd as it is i've never needed to before now, as the plastic fitted ones...

    pvc gas cupboard

I have a wooden fronted cupboard the hight of the front door, the top being for the gas meter (so obviously needs a gas key fitment) and the lower section is storage. Does a pcv replacement exist for this? I have looked into it and can only find a single large door or a stable (front) door...

mirror gloss finish from spray paint?

i don't doubt that, what i meant was they wouldnt be able to get it to the finish i ideally wanted it to eventually look like. Which wasnt actually what i asked them. not that i myself would be able to with a spray can. On speaking to the shop they flatly refused to look at it and the way...

    removing polystyrene glue paste stuff

did try scraping but that only removed so much, having another go today it looks like its gotten into the slightly raised pattern of the paper. I was hoping for something that could dissolve it, as the previous owners stuck a polystyrene ceiling rose cover (in another room) with the same...

    removing polystyrene glue paste stuff

Probably the least specific subject title, I apologies but not having used it i'm unsure of the proper name. My problem is thus, being away for the weekend (on business) my girlfriend got her brother to decorate the entrance hallway (paper and coving). A job somewhere on the middle of my to...

mirror gloss finish from spray paint?

Have a piece of wooden furniture with an almost glass like finish, was definitely painted, unfortunately has a gouge out of the very center. I've taken it back almost to the wood now and removed the damage (filling / blending it didn't work). I wondered how near the original finish i could...

    kitchen/diner ideas please...

I never realised that glass blocks could be assembled dry like mentioned in the wood kit ('framelight' as they're calling it.) I will definatly consider it as it seems like an easy job if i can get some modern looking blocks, i was woried that it might look a little kitch... But i think...

    kitchen/diner ideas please...

Custom wet zone build - help please

the platform idea would mean minimum distruption to the rest of the bathroom, i could put the membrane down over a smaller area. I also think that cosmetically it would be more benificial to give some distiction between shower and the room.
