    Neighbours smoke blowing down chimney

Hi all, Hope everyone is well. We're having an issue with Steptoe next door who burns anything and everything flammable in his Rayburn. Unfortunately his acrid smoke blows down our redundant chimneys into our home. Can anyone recommend a decent anti-wind downdraught cowl? I've looked online...

    Smoke from condensing boiler

Hi all -- my neighbour's installed a new condensing boiler - and the vent is right beside our boundary on our terraced houses but nearly 2m from the edge of our back window (my young daughter's bedroom). Still the plume of smoke regularly wafts across that window so that it's a real nuisance...

Smoke smell from flat below - ok to put airtight membrane under carpet?

Hello, I am in a converted Victorian house and when my downstairs neighbour smokes I get smoke smell coming up through the floor. I'm planning to put new carpets down and wondering if it is ok to put some sort of plastic sheeting down across the whole floor (and tuck it under skirting boards)...

Smoke/Weed Smell Coming Through Chimney Breast

We live in a terrace and on one site, our neighbours smoke a lot, both cigarettes and weed. The smell isn't overpowering but it's particularly noticeable in our master bedroom which has fitted wardrobes on the party wall that we didn't install. There were some large (grapefruit-sized) holes...

Ian - I have no access to the manhole as it's on the neighbour's side. Is it worth doing the smoke test from the inside of the property, i.e. from drop the smoke pellet into that gap between the stones?

    Oops... It's smoking.

Asked by a neighbour 3 doors down from me to renew their Fenial. It was rotted and in a pretty poor state. I set up my scaffold tower, tools up to the top. The world is fine. It's also lovely and warm - the sun is out. Cut all the rot out, renewed everything. Prior to painting I thought I...

    Smoke!

I dont know if I'm alone, but as an ex-smoker I can walk out of my front door and immediatly sense that a neighbour 5 houses away, is out in his garden having a puff. Likewise, if I exit the back door, I can smell the cigarette smoke from another neighbour 20 yards away. Clearly, if the wind...

    Woodburner and double glazing problem

The problem is that the human nose is incredibly sensitive to the smells of smoke and rotting food, which is a survival thing. So even a few parts per million of smoke in the air will set off your neighbour's spidey senses.

I was thinking of building a barbie deck with a hood and chimney to take the smoke away to protect neighbours. I wonder if that counts.

    New Wood Burning Stove

Many thanks for your replies. The guy who installed our stove did carry out a smoke test with the liner and no smoke was seeping through. It isn't a smoke smell that is in our bedroom upstairs and the neighbours have said it's definitely not a smoke smell that they are experiencing - I would...

    Smoking

Presumably, the same law that dictates bonfire smoke will allways travel towards the open window of a grumpy neighbour, or clean washing hanging out to dry, or in your eyes whereever you stand!!! BTW, I smoke  , but am very conscious of non-smokers breathing my smoke - ***** s*ds...
