    Vented or Condensing Tumble Dryer?

Hi Guys.. Looking to buy a home dryer now the damp & rainy days are closing in. I've noticed that vented dryers (one that requires an external wall or window to hang the hose out of) are considerably cheaper than condensing dryers.. My question is, if I can't externally vent the dryer can I...

    Painting MDF

I've been advised to use Melamine Paint as a top coat particulary in bathroom / kitchen environments.. It produces a durable satin finish & requires no primer, goes on with one coat even on MDF. Get down to homebase & check it out.

Double Glazing >> What to Look Out For?

Cheers Guys, Thanks for your advice on the 'Freebie' issue... I don't think i was being too naive.. But I just thought that some companies do have genuine cheap offers.. although I do take the point of inflated prices to make it appear a great deal..! All offers & deals taken into...

Double Glazing >> What to Look Out For?

were you being ironic here? Are you sincerely suggesting to look out for these offers in a sinister sense? If so what bad experiences have you encountered with the 'freebie' offers? Or is it the opposite, & recommending to seek out the freebie deals.? Having trouble reading between the lines on...

    Halogen >> Downlighters >> Transformer

Average size / shape room (14'x14') I worked out you would need at least 6x50w downlighters to provide sufficient illumination. This equals 300w or 3x100w standard bulbs!. Is this safe to wire up to the standard pendant in the middle of the ceiling? Also, not withstanding those explanations on...

    Halogen >> Downlighters >> Transformer

cheers Howard, makes sense now! But does 8 directly (240v) wired halogens burn more energy than 8 12v ones? Cheers.

    Halogen >> Downlighters >> Transformer

Thanks guys, I now see that going the 240v route is slightly less hassle & more reliable than using transformers. But,, Just for a little more comparison between the 2 systems before I decide..: If I had say 8 lights mounted in the ceiling using the direct voltage route (240v).. Would...

    Stainless Steel Finished Appliances

yes, weird that isn't it? we used to cook with loads of oils & fats, but as our awareness of healthier alternatives is slowly taking over the grease aspect has moved from our food to our food surfaces & appliances... I once saw an episode from the Simpsons where Homer & Bart went into the...

    Stainless Steel Finished Appliances

Lovely to look at, aren't they? until the kids put their hands on them! my new siemens fridge came with a sample bottle of what they call 'Chromol'. You're supposed to rub the surfaces down with the stuff every now & again. Came up a treat! I thought it was some kind of super technical...

thanks, But how does it work? & what prevents all the salt being used up on the first wash?? Yes, i'll read the manual again.. & thanks for the tip on rinse settings, but i guess it all depends on how hard the water is in your area, right? regarding rinse aid, salt, smears etc etc.. & what...

Servis washing machine - hot fill only!

could it be a fault with the units logic board/brain? it may be thinking the part of the wash cycle needs hot water when in fact it's a cool rinse. try a wash cycle that only demands cold water (wool / super synthetics or something) or try & wash a load without the hot water supply connected...

    Installing New Dishwasher, Can I.....?

so... the consensus of opinion is that it's okay, but if both machines are on at the same time filling may take a bit longer than usual because of the pull on the water supply... but no harm done.... but on pump-out there's a slight possibilty that where the two pipes converge may cause added...
