24v transformer to fit Hager CU

I have an adaptable box with Oct base relays for my central heating, does that also not comply? As soon as any non-approved device is put into a consumer unit, it changes name and becomes a distribution unit. And technically it needs to be under the control of an instructed or skilled person...

    Willis Heating System

I would not think the water would cool down enough to turn on the immersion heater for those two hours? It does raise the question about circulating central heating water temperature vs immersion heater water temperature. I turn off the off-peak use to heat DHW in the winter, my controller...

Is it worth altering the water temperature dial spring/autumn to winter?

I have read about weather compensation, and it seems it alters the circulating water temperature, which I can see helps with a modern boiler. But what about with a non condensing, non modulating boiler? There is a large dial on the front to adjust the circulating water temperature, why? I see...

24v transformer to fit Hager CU

Yes, I agree, I have also from time to time exceeded the speed limit, but that does not make it OK to tell others to do the same.

24v transformer to fit Hager CU

It seems the power supply for the Hager CU Product Dimensions ‎85 mm (H) x 70 mm (W) x 58 mm (D) so 4 module wide, Part Number ST314 so you will need an independent enclosure. I do agree one can break the rules and use a third party transformer, the ST301 is two module wide, but 8 and 12 volt.

    Willis Heating System

Your English is better than mine, you put it spot on. But it will mix, so hot water at the bottom of the tank will warm water on its way up, so the whole tank warms together, but putting separate it is not mixing on the way up. I remember the gas geezers on the wall, they did work, but today...

    Undersink instantaneous water heaters

It says on the picture, 10 litres. I just picked on at random. Think the one we used was 7 litres, which was ample for handwashing.

I would say it was more to do with the variable metalimnion layer, so one can select either by time or multi tank thermostats how much DHW is stored. For me having the store local to point of use would be a better use of money. i.e. under sink water heater.

    Willis Heating System

I have only had one bath in this house, we use the shower, so although we have two baths, they are not used, so having more than a bowl full of water heated at first thought, seems pointless, but we had an 11-inch immersion heater, and we would run out of hot water, mainly as no sun that day, so...

    How do you make tea?

There was a British type of Gauloises, but I gave up when King size went to 50p a packet of 20. Cigaloos or some name like that. The tea pot is only rinsed out, the brown coating helps make a good pot, but any item used where milk is added, needs cleaning, so if drinking without milk, yes just...

Pairing a new remote for an electric gate

This accident changed the attitude within the trade to fitting and working on automatic gates. I would have said no one other than the family use my back gate, the drive only serves 4 houses, I am the last, and does not look like a road at its entrance, but have found a parcel in my garage...

The old Willis website, it did have a detailed explanation of how it worked, but it seems to have vanished.

    Undersink instantaneous water heaters

Most of Europe has 16 amp radial supplies, and that unit would work with a 16 amp supply, we see the same with overs, rated at 3.5 kW for Europe in UK they need a dedicated supply, in fact the regulations say There is also a plumbing consideration, water when heated expands, and there needs to...

Weather compensation sensor with Hive on new combi boiler

Thank you for asking, I will admit I don't know the answer. I started by asking google That does seem to make sense, until one asks, why does it need to measure outside temperature to lower the radiator temperature. With my mother's old house, (this house does not have a modulating boiler) I...

    Willis Heating System

If a tube was inside the cylinder so the immersion heater inside the tube, could one use a short immersion heater and still heat the whole of the cylinder?

    Willis Heating System

I do to some degree agree with @ebee if I had a cylinder without the boss for an immersion heater, then the Willis would seem a cost-effective method, and with solar water heating, it also seems a good idea. But to rip out existing and replace with Willis that seems unlikely to have enough...

Off-grid solar + wind in parallel?

The capacity 40 Ah Honda Jazz, had been left for a few months without use, and battery was fully charged with a smart charger, the energy monitor has warped the results a bit, should have been straight lines. It was a stage charger. The MPPT is likely a pulse charger, these are better when the...

Off-grid solar + wind in parallel?

Since the 90s things have moved on, the main change is the lithium battery. The main difference is the charge rate. In the main, a lithium battery with charge 2/3 of hour rate and discharge at the hour rate. But lead acid can discharge fast, but the charge rate is rather slow. This was the...

    Willis Heating System

Thank you for moving, I don't think so, remembering back to the side boiler in the Aga, it seemed to mix up the water, today we have a hot coil so water does not mix anyway, but the Willis both electric and hot coil versions, the Heating is done in the external heat exchanger or immersion...

Economy 7 Water Tank - Timer Switch

I am now confused clearly an electrical connection, but does this power an immersion heater, or go to some thermostat? So hunted for instructions and found this diagram which shows two immersion heaters. The diagram does not really help, and the instructions clearly old as it refers to IEE...
