Touch light has stopped working. Checked fuse and wiring and all seems in order. Is it possible to remove the part that controls the light and turn it into a normal light with the addition of an inline switch? I would prefer this option rather than Mrs Robs usual answer of just throw it out...

Gordon, I don't have the tool station part number but hopefully this may be of help. The make was GE Ref No 604278, this number is on the front of the RCD 80A, 30mA I'm pretty sure one of the regulars will put you on the right track in your search.
