    Fuse identification

The fuse on my B&Q Multimeter has blown. It's a short glass type. It's difficult to read the fuse type but I think it says on one end "F500L 250V". The other end might just say "F5". What fuse should I get to be on the safe side? Any advice would be appreciated.

Took it apart and the inside became mangled. Have cut the hose off and thrown the rest away. Thanks for the interest.

The hose is still attached and fully extended. It just won't go back. I'll take it apart tomorrow.

I pulled the hose out too far and it won't retract. Can it be mended?

Accessing inside of a mixer tap

I should have realised that the vertical arms unscrewed. Thanks for that. Does the handle on the right as you look at the image undo unscrew anti-clockwise?

Accessing inside of a mixer tap

An image of the mixer tap in question can be found at this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0yG_tj_QGIeNGVMMkl3NlRpdlE/view?usp=sharing My questions are: 1. How do you remove the handles to gain access to the inside? 2. The cold side is on the right as you look at it. Do I undo the...

    Faulty 9v transformer

I have a Roberts radio the 9v power transformer of which is faulty. I have another 9v transformer but the connecting bit that goes into the radio is not quite big enough. Can you get adapters of different sizes that I could fit onto the connector bit? Thanks.

Trouble Renewing Ceramic Washer From Tap.

Thanks John but please bear with me. I was thinking of the whole of the cartridge gradually unscrewing as the lever is continually moved in the anti-clockwise direction when you want water. Having thought about it a bit more though I guess when you push the lever back to close down the...

Trouble Renewing Ceramic Washer From Tap.

So the with both levers moving towards you, the left hot one is moving in a clockwise direction which tightens the cartridge, and the right cold one is moving in an anti-clockwise directions which has a tendency to loosen the cartridge. An unlikely event event perhaps but am I correct? I'm...

Trouble Renewing Ceramic Washer From Tap.

I have an similar problem. Hot control left-cold control right and both turn towards you. But it is my cold tap that is dripping. I've tried unscrewing anti-clockwise using quite a bit of force without success. Should it unscrew in a clockwise direction?

    Good advice Blagard. Many thanks.

    30 minute firewalls

Fire regulations say that a fuel storage tank should be 1800mm away from a non-fire rated building or structure (ie: garden shed). If it is not possible to meet these requirements, a fire rated barrier with at least 30 minutes protection should be provided, extending 300mm higher and wider than...

    Is planning permission out-of-date?

Consent is given for a detached barn to be converted to a house. The barn is restructured in a barn-like fashion with a barn-like door. But only the shell of it has been completed. It has a roof of course but no windows, chimneys or normal outside doors. Considerable time has passed. When it...

Building on the site of an old property

In my garden a short distance from my present property, was another property. There is a small section of the foundations remaining. It was demolished in 1908 but can be seen on OS maps of that era. I live in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Can I get planning permission to re-build it?
