Is this article a Red Haddock ???

I never had or used a "Robin D-Lok" tester but I did hear that the concept usually worked but not always, the recommendation was not to test an RCD with the outgoing circuit attached, personally I preffered to do both with and without the circuit attached if possible and compare the results in...

    KITCHEN SOCKETS tripping RCD

Up until the 60s and 70s MK was one of two respected brand names and perhaps did deserve that. Since that time Electricians and some of the public started to become aware of possible problems. Eventually more and more of the trade saw thru the brand lead ethos and humour of what "MK" stood for...

Old Lady , appauling Electrics, Nephew was tasked to see for her be he lived far away - The house was absolutely full of clutter, carpet on top of carpet aon top of carpet with ancient tacked down lino on both...

"should not use a three port valve with a type AC RCD I assume" I`ve not heard that suggested Eric nor had/heard of any problems with it either.

    100mm to 120 duct pipe.

That is a good answer to consider if someone has, they can be handy things if you just happen to have one for hobby, home or business use, so a worthwhile question to consider but I think most folk might not, Actually I know some folk who have one or more but never use them too! unfortunately...

    KITCHEN SOCKETS tripping RCD

MK logic was one for a very long time being SP switched sockets whereas rivals were DP switching until MK brought out Logic 2, that amazed me because MK still had some legacy favouring the brand (deserved or not) too at that time.

Yes John that is exactly what I meant, not the running costs - again with plumbing/heating on long runs from boiler etc to have a pump permanently running a head of water on constant circulation to avoid the end users of long runs wainting "a long time" to receive it after turning tap on...

Is this article a Red Haddock ???

"a spring, wound up by a constantly powered, stalled clock type motor, to retain the valve open. Such a daft idea," I must admit that when I first came across it I thought the same and in the heating fraternity it is thought of as normal. It mightjust be that it keeps the cost down and...

My I remind us that when some rule or reg or law states some particular thing - in this case being the csa of a particular conductor - it does not invarably mean you may not use something better by some reason - in this case a conductor exceeding the cas required "The LA officer said he used the...

Sorry No, I was neither correcting nor approving what either of you had said I was merely attempting to point out that it seems that the DNO etc has the final say in what the want us to have in place and that could be over and above what the regs state. I did take me a "little while to see the...

Smoke?Heat/CO alarms are a good idea anyway, you can not have too many so long as they are suitably placed for all sorts of reasons including electrical fires but the best way to prevent such fires electrically is to have the electrical installation in a sound condition in the first place.

Meter fitters of today are not the meter fitters of yesteryear, they used to be qualified electricians and often had additional qualifications as electrical inspectors too. Today a meter fitter could be a joiner or something who has been on a course to be a meter fitter and they may or may not...

Well a quick glance at this extremely small portion does lead to a clue as to what it might need and whilst the remark that Murdochat just made can not be verified 100% it certainly does suggest that some TLC might be required. A look around in more detail in the form of an EICR would be an...

I think that one who used to contribute to this forum got something right about my question in a thread when, indeed, I myself got it wrong, after a while I realised he was correct (Some of you will remember dear old Ban-All-Sheds)

My understanding, from a Heating Engineer is that with TRVs a Room Stat is still required and is used as a "High Limit Stat". Edited a PS - at least that positions as was explained to me a few years back anyhow.

Yes they do insist on 16.0 Earthing conductor with 25mm tails even though bonding at 10.00mm is sufficient and even when their connection from the incomming earth to the earth block is not much bigger than a piece of wet string. I often think of it as an untended earth fusewire. To befair...
