It is looking much better, but the outer surround has a like a burnt pan seasoning on it which is hard to remove. Any ideas?

    Removing side lights and switches

Have lifted a floor board. Cables seem to go through a joist so not sure how light switch connects. Do I need to try and access from the other side of the wall? Do I try and do this at wall level or floor level?

    Removing side lights and switches

Ok, little mistake. They are on the ground light circuit. Room is on the first floor. Pictures of cables attached. Assume I need to raise floorboards to see how they connect? Let me know if this is the next step and I will do. Thanks for help so far.

    Removing side lights and switches

When I turn off the breaker for the power sockets, it cuts power to the lights. Can’t see a fused spur anywhere.

    Removing side lights and switches

I wish to remove these lights and switches. initially, I thought I could remove cabling between lights and switches and blank the switches. But can I remove more cable so I can removes the switches too? There are on a power circuit so I expect they are wired to the socket on the left.

Wonky tap does not add character... according to my wife

How to renovate this antique fireplace

I am tempted, but I like that the blue matches the hearve tiles. It is for a bedroom rather than a feature room so perhaps a little less important! Thanks for your time and response.

How to renovate this antique fireplace

Thank you. Am going to try to take it back to black iron. The more authentic the better IMO. How do I polish up the hood? Just rotary wire brush? Is the frame the one immediately around the fire box, or the white painted part outside the angled tiles. What is a good strong detergent?

2 hot, 1 luke warm, 6 cold radiators on ground floor

Yeah, next step is to call the installer. I suspect it is not an issue with the boiler but another part of the system (which is old) so happy to be reasonable to find the correct fix. Water colour when bleeding radiators varies from clean to a little dirty. Not black. Some radiators seem to...

2 hot, 1 luke warm, 6 cold radiators on ground floor

No, would like in the future. Thinking downstairs would all be underfloor and controlled separately. 1st & 2nd could be zones or just use TRVs?

2 hot, 1 luke warm, 6 cold radiators on ground floor

Do not like the sound of any of them. Balancing - unlikely as they have been hot before Sludge - possible. I guess I should power flush? TRVs - nope, they are old valves Failing pump - nope, we have one in the system boiler and another on the system Airlock - perhaps. Do I just bleed the valves...

2 hot, 1 luke warm, 6 cold radiators on ground floor

Hello, At the moment we only seem to have 2 hot radiators, 1 luke warm radiator and 6 cold radiators on our ground floor. What is the problem? Radiator on 1st and 2nd floor seem ok. Boiler is new, radiators are old. Thanks, Matthew

What is this black pipe near drain manhole cover and is it ok to remove?

Can it be replaced so it is not visible? What are my options here. My house has a vent stack not too far away.
