    CCTV system and positions

Thanks for the prompt reply. I could put mine all up under my eves so the connections were inside the loft but I was under the impression mounting them that high would make them ineffective at facial detection? It would be my preference to mount them higher if people feel its the best thing...

    CCTV system and positions

Ok so I’ve unboxed it and have another query. The camera has a 1 mtr long cable coming out the back with a BNC and 12v jack connector on. These then have to be plugged into the main run of cable the goes into the loft via the eves. My question is. Is it ok for these connectors to be left...

    CCTV system and positions

I’ve purchased a swann 4 camera 1080p heat sensing 1tb system from Maplins today and had the following questions:- 1. Are Swann any good? Maybe a bit late for me to ask this but thought I would as not opened it yet. 2. Is this system any good for just a residential house (detached)? 3. I...

Loft Insulation - Foil Bubble / heat question

Earlier this year I installed the foil bubble insulation in my loft. I went from the roof pitch down half way before letting the sides just drape to the floor to leave sufficient "dirty" storage behind and also allow the airflow around the loft so condensation didn't form. I didn't seal all...

Mounting a monitor on a rafter

i would like to mount a 19" 4:3 monitor on a rafter (8x2 I think) in my loft. It's one of the 4 that run up at 45deg to the pitch. Is it structurally safe to screw 2 or 4 holes in this beam to hang the monitor from. I could either fit it using 2 screws into the 2" front or maybe put 2 or 4 in...

    Gas Flue distance from shed?

I want to install a 10x7 shed next to my house but its close to my gas flue (old square natural flow flue). It would be about 8" between end of flue and the shed. The flue sit 6+ feet up and the lowest point of the shed (apex) roof would be around that height also. Is this just too close...

Insulated Shed for gaming/office - help...

Hi, couple more questions:- 1. Did you leave an air gap between the celotex and the wall? 2. Did you install any form of extractor fan to get air movement when required? 3. Did you install electric in the shed, if so where was the ingress point? Thanks

Insulated Shed for gaming/office - help...

Interesting... Its more than I want to take on.. I could just about handle getting a shed, putting it on some 2x3 wood to raise it off the ground, then insulating it (no concrete floor for me).. Did you put a vapour protection layer in, or just go for the celotex? If so what gap did you leave...

Insulated Shed for gaming/office - help...

I've ran out of room in my house and need more space for my office computer and gaming setup. I've got space outside (approx 23' x 7') and thought about getting a shed (10' x 7'). I would then insulate it to protect it from damp and cold, also providing electric to it. As I have not done this...

What size gravel on a drive?.. Help..

I am going to gravel my drive but am going to put down a CoreGravel stabiliser to hold the gravel in place. I am planning on putting 20mm annular gravel down as normally this sits better on drives without the stabiliser but I am not sure on a drive with the stabiliser if it will sit better...
