    Fitting Cladding on bay windows?

So the cladding is a no go under 1st floor window even if it's just the front not the sides because of that flashing? (Pix below) Regarding the ground floor, would it be fine with the additional added flashing id screw into wall which prevents water running behind justfor 35mm hang over on...

    Dormer roof insulation & ventilation

    Insulated timber-framed Garden Room

That looks like a big building Ian, and a big garden! I've not fully decided on the cladding but leaning towards Marley Eternit cedral click fibre cement boards mostly because it has a Class 0 fire rating which I need for the right hand side which is on the border with my mum's house. The back...

    Gable tiling question

...say soffit or fascia etc. I suppose you could hide it with a lead flashing, but it will still look pants. We'd have likely cladded it with Cedral or plastic shiplap. How are you dealing with the overhang? Regardless, I think you'll need to fill the battens with a solid run down the diagonal...

Fitting Windows Behind Check Reveals - Sealant Options?

Not fitted windows before, but have some to do in the next few weeks. These are aluminium windows going in a mix of lead covered dormer and cedral clad wooden framing. In my head I was going to use silicone around the opening as the windows go in for the frame face to but up to, then get up...

Trying to age a 70’s house by building a bay window on the frony

I was thinking upper half brick slips, lower half block work and screeded and then painted white (maintenance wise long term makes sense as I intend to leave the house in a casket and we all get to a ton in the family genes so want ease of maintenance) As next door to the right is fully white...

    Cedar cladding suppliers

...despite me following all the oiling instructions to the letter. Then again it was in direct sunlight most of the time. Been torn between grey cedral type or cedar and swung towards the cedar as I’m planning on oiling it every year to try and keep the colour. There’s a place round the corner...

    Timber cladding replacement

...rear facade of an 1980s council style timber frame mid terraced house. We want to replace the vertical timbers with either hardie plank or cedral weatherboard but would I need to add additional insulation or damp proofing to bring it upto current regulations etc? The current timber cladding...

New slate roof and dormer eaves is running VERY hot - have we made a big mistake???

Thanks Freddy, the dormer itself is a wooden framed dormer. The cladding is cedral click cladding, which is a fibre cement cladding. The roofers supplied a breathable felt and counter batten to allow airflow. I recall them putting the polystyrene type insulation with foil backing on against the...

...during driving rain directly against the wall. The verge has just been replaced and the battons were very wet, but still leaks. The cladding (Cedral) and UPVC facia and soffits have also been replaced and a waterproof membrane installed. If I spray a hose against the verge area where the...

Ideas on back garden workshop outbuilding shed construction materials

...any real foundations. They can be insulated and lined internally for comfort and clad externally with timber or cement cladding like Marley Cedral at a later stage when you have more money available. For that size, if you could get a couple of garages cheap you could produce something...

    Timber Cladding

Haven't used Cedral, but have used cembrit weatherboard plank https://www.cembrit.co.uk/cladding-panels/wood-look/plank which is available in a range of colours. My local merchant (cwberry leyland) stocks a good few colours and has trims to match. It's easy to put up and very DIYable provided...

Exterior Plyboard for a garden workshop

...one skin of 12mm plasterboard onto a 6 x 2 timber frame with 50mm mineral wool batting in the middle). Hardie do a similar board, as do Marley/Cedral (made in Widnes, I believe). We just went with Versa as it was the board the SE had done the calcs on I think that cement fibre boards are...

...the substantially non-combustible materials is if your within 1m of the boundary? I'm going to be 2m away. I may also clad the outside in Cedral weatherboard (cement board so non combustible?) if that helps and I could use pink plasterboard inside when it gets to that stage. I'm sure I have...

New slate roof and dormer eaves is running VERY hot - have we made a big mistake???

Breathable (membrane) means it will let water vapor escape. It is not a protection from the sun. Nor does it insulate form the sun. You may benefit from some through ventilation i.e. OFV's and vented ridge etc.

    WHICH NAIL GUN AND WHY

I am about to cover a large building with Marley Cedral Weatherboard. Obviously I will be battening to the brickwork (soft red's), then fixing the cladding to those. I intend to use a nail gun to fix both (battening and cladding). The battening will probably be 38 x 50 (green) and the boards...
