Thanks for your reply. So I would need to buy the whole fin/lamp unit. I've never seen them in any diy/electrical store

    Help changing light bulb

Hi all. Need a bit of help changing my shower exhaust light. It has the exhaust around the light, I've taken off a cover, which is pictured, and there then appears to be the screws on the bulb, and a kind of exhaust surrounding it. Does the whole exhaust unit come out or do I unscrew the...

    Underfloor heating

the room is actually bigger than that, the area we'll be heating is about 5 square metres. Also we have a heated towel rail, the ufh is not going to be on full blast. Just enough to take the cold edge off of the tiles

    Underfloor heating

From what I've read. having it on for around 4 hours a day, with the size we require, shouldn't cost more tan about a fiver a month. if this is a true reflection I think it would be worthwhile. a wet system is just to much cost and headache for a small area I think.

    Underfloor heating

We do have a pretty large towel rail going in. think it's 1500 by 600, but wanted something to take the edge off the tiles. How expensive is it to run an electric ufh system? like I said it'll be a pretty small area, maybe only 4 or 5 square metres. Surely it couldn't cost to much to have it on...

    Architect mistake

I'll have to dig up the contract, but a pretty basic mistake surely. Looks like we need a massive joint coming down from the existing outside wall to well below skeeling height. So not only a long wait, but will look pretty ugly. Would never have agreed to this if we knew about it beforehand...

    Architect mistake

Hi all We are into the second day of our extension being built, and already having problems. The architect did not allow for the skeelings, so looks like we have to get a special joint made up which will take 3 weeks to be done. This is going to cost extra, as well as put the whole project...

    Planning permission denied

Our application has been registered and we've spoken to the planning officer and strategy planner as well. The planning officer reiterated what our architect said. We need 3 off road parking spaces to extend our house to a 4th bedroom

    Planning permission denied

No we spoke to the planning officer and she said this wouldn't work, as we could still use it as a bedroom. We would need to significantly change it, ensuite, dressing room, extend existing bedroom........

    Planning permission denied

Apparently it's to do with number of bedrooms. A new law brought in that if you add an extra bedroom you have to have a certain number of parking spaces according to how many bedrooms you have. It is due to the parking problems in the area.

    Planning permission denied

Think she is giving us the option to alter it. But after talking to the strategy planner she said they are likely to refuse it anyway as they know we want 4 bedrooms. Just going to leave it in the hands of the architect now, and if it is refused we'll hold her accountable. She should've alerted...

    Planning permission denied

Well we have spoken to the planning officer. She says that as it is the planning would be denied, so we need to make adjustments. We don't have space for 3x 4.8x2.4 metre parking spaces, as is required by new legislation, as our garden is a bit to short to comply. So if we keep it as a 3 bedroom...

    Planning permission denied

Don't need a carrot cake recipe, I have one already. But I apparently don't have 3x 2.4x4.8m parking spaces which is why my planning couldn't go further.

    Planning permission denied

so how about we forget about how long it has taken and just get advice on how to get the planning approved? I am giving the information exactly as it is, and I'll call the planning office tomorrow to clarify.

    Planning permission denied

All i know is that the architect had the phone call from the planning officer saying that the highways agency wouldn't grant permission due to the reasons stated. It is probably the officer giving usba chance to work with them to get it through Not sure what you mean by what permission we're...

    Planning permission denied

Rushmoor is known for it's quick turnaround, the email we received when the application was filed said we would have an answer within 10 working days. Maybe it was just the planning officer letting the architect know that it will fail. We are applying for an extension above the existing side...

    Planning permission denied

Hi all. We applied for planning permission with Rushmoor, via our architect on Friday last week. We had a call from the architect today saying that planning permission was denied as we don't have 3 off road car parking spaces. The extension would've provided a 4th bedroom and extended the...

    Question regarding loft extension.

Hello everyone. My wife and I are looking at options to extend our property, and a loft extension seems to be the best bet. We had a well known, respected local lofter come round to give us a quote, and he confirmed our suspicions that there wasn't enough headroom in the loft. He did suggest...
