    Trv identification

Long shot, but could anyone identify this TRV body? There was no head on it when we moved in to the house. I bought a Honeywell valve, but the Honeywell pin only protrudes 4mm whereas the existing one is about 8mm so the new valve doesn't shut it off.

    Condensate pipe weeping

Hi, We've got a small weep/drip from where the grey condensate drain connects to the white pvc pipe (see picture). Does this just push on, or does it need to be glued - can I do this myself or do I need to get someone in to do it? Thanks!

    Condensation question again, sorry!

Hi, I've read all the threads on condensation in lofts so I think I understand the reasons, causes, and the fixes, but just wanted to check that this is indeed condensation and nothing more sinister. The wood that has the water droplets on is the underside of a lead valley. I remember...

    Topping up boiler, how often?

Probably open up a can of worms here. How often should a combi boiler on a sealed system need topping up? I'm sure some people will say never as any sign of a pressure stop is a leak, but the Worcester Bosch website says once or twice a year is perfectly normal. Take got example my system...

    Replacement TRV head

TRV head has stopped working. Should I be able to replace this head with any generic one or do I need to purchase a specific model? Thanks!

Coram Premier wall channel cover strip removal

Hi, I've found a leak under my shower. By the looks of it, it's been happening for a long time. First thing I want to try is resealing the shower. The enclosure is a Coran Premier with the wall channel cover strips, and my bet is that there is no sealant behind them, it certainly looks like...

    Carpet under heating pipes

Evening all, As you can hopefully see from the photos we've ended up with central heating pipes closer to the floor than we would like. We wanted to carpet the floor, but there's no way gripper rods would fit under. Is it possible fix the gripper in front of the pipes, or perhaps just glue...

Boiler pressure loss after drain down

Hi, Had my system drained down to remove a radiator. Following a refill of the system I'm having to bleed the towel radiator in the bathroom every three or four weeks, which I completely understand as there's probably air trapped that's working its way around. What I'm not so sure about is...

    Radiator life span

Hi all, Having some work done soon to install a couple of new radiators and it got me wondering if it's worth replacing some others at the same time - we have a few with severe rust around where the valves enter the radiators for example. I think the radiators in question have been in place...

    Am I missing some insulation?

I was having a poke in the loft looking for leaks after the awful weather yesterday and noticed that the insulation is about six inches short of the gable end. Was this done intentionally or should I be adding some? What issues is the lack of insulation causing? Thanks!

What's this bit of my roof called?

Hi, Wondered if anyone can tell me what this bit of the roof is called? I've circled a bit that's missing and wondered if it's important. Am I right in thinking it's not the wet verge, as that's the mortar above? Thanks for any help.

    Drain pipe water butt identification

Can any one help identify this type of drain pipe that connects to our water butts? It's in a house we bought so didn't install ourselves. Butts are filing really slowly so just want to check the installation instructions to check they are not at the wrong height or anything. Thanks!

What does a boiler aav do?

Evening all. I've got a vaillant ecofit pure 830 boiler and I think this has an aav in it. I've heard the term before, but just checking I understand the purpose - it is a way of releasing any trapped air in the system (like bleeding a radiator would). Is this correct?

New Radiator - how much bleeding?

Hi, have a sealed heating system that we had drained and refilled back in the summer following the addition of a larger radiator and the replacement of some valves. We have sixteen radiators in total. Had the heating on since the start of November, and every couple of weeks we get a gurgling...

    Paint Issues in Bathroom

Morning all, looking for some advice with paint issues in our ensuite. We had it painted back in June, and everything seemed fine. However, one morning neck in January we noticed some streaks that looked like water damage. However, what confuses me is It happened overnight It wasn't...

Vaillant Ecofit Pure working but red light

Noticed this morning that the green light on the front of the boiler has turned red, but I can't see any fault codes being displayed ( do I need to go into a menu? ). Heating and hot water seem to work. Any ideas what's going on?

    Iflo trv head replacement

Hi, Plastic part inside an iflo trv has snapped. I can't seem to find a matching head in the Internet. Can anyone recommend a replacement head so I don't have to change the whole valve? Thanks!

    CH target temp

Moved into a new house. CH seems to work, in that all radiators get warm, but they don't get hot. Checked the boiler (Vaillant ecoFit pure) and the target temperature was set to 55. This seems low, what should it be?

    Damp identification help

Hi, New house, uncovering various things. Could anyone help with this damp? Not sure if the pattern indicates what is causing it. Also not sure if it's historic or recent as we've only been here a couple of weeks. The "damp" only appears to be on the end of the threshold, and not on either side...

Bosch dishwasher water hammer mid cycle

Hi, just moved into a house and have inherited a Bosch Serie 2 Silence Plus. It is indeed silent for most of the three hour cycle, until the point there's about 1 hour 40 left in the display. At that point there's a repeated pattern of what sounds like the machine filling followed by an...
