    Festool Extractor

Are these Festool Extractors and their sanders really as good as they claim? I've seen videos (from Festool) of someone sanding walls and ceilings with no dust fallout what so ever. I've tried regular sanders with a vac and it was next to useless, so is the Festool the way to go?

Waste drain outdoors - what are my opions?

Hi, wondering what my options are here to tidy this up? Some kind of sealed way of doing it or maybe some kind of gulley? Thanks for looking.

    Large pipe clamps

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone knows of pipe clamps like these ones, but with either.... Single thread, rather than the M10 M8 combo which means there's only about 4mm of M8 thread. Or captive M8 stud? Thanks.

    Lawnmower oil

Stupid question here, but, I have a Lawnflite mower with a Briggs and Stratton engine. Here's the silly question, can I change the oil with 5w30 which I have in my garage for cars? Or should I go and get some SAE30? I looked online for specifications but nothing was really clear. Thanks.

    Lawnflite 991 SP6 Lawn mower

Hi, I've been given the above mower as my friend has a new one. I can't seem to find any manuals online to help with trouble shooting. It starts and runs absolutely fine, but it doesn't self propel which I knew about, but I want to see what I can do with it. Not sure if it's a well known brand...

    Tile Cutters

I have a flat bed wet tile saw, where the tile goes on the bed face up and the blade protrudes through the bed. I have used this on ceramic and it was ok, but I did find that it often chipped the glazing. I found it absolutely no good for porcelain for this reason. I then used an angle grinder...

Is this EPDM Damaged? As delivered

Morning, I've just rolled out my EPDM sheet and noticed this and wondered if it's just a crease which will relax or if it's damage beyond that? Frustrating thing is, what choice do I have? I've got to get the roof covered, so may add a repair patch just in case but what else can I do? I can't...

    Pyronix Alarm Help

Ok, bit of a strange one, but here goes. Friend of mine is selling house, has an alarm managed by a company who charges a lot of money for simple things. The alarm is playing up, so basically she either wants the engineers code from the company, or basically I'm going to put my ear defenders...

Leaking garage roof - temp repair

Friend of mine has a leaky garage roof, we can't replace it just yet. It's a flat felt garage roof on ply boards. Could we pour and spread a few tins of black jack on it for the meanwhile do you think?

    Painting around taped carpet edges

Hello, any tips on how to avoid that painted tape sticking to the woodwork when painting? Usually I pull carpets up, but this is on our stairs, so I've tucked the tape down the edges, but am finding that possibly when I remove the tape, I'm going to have lines around it where you'll see the...

    Dishwasher using too much salt

A Zanussi ZDT21006FA dishwasher is going through salt. I can fill the sump up and it'll be gone in days. I've inspected the cap and gasket, cleaned it all out but usage is still high. Any suggestions?

    Bolt through door handles

I'm replacing all of my internal door handles with bolt through. I've done one so far but it still feels a bit loose, so I may need to use the three wood screws each side, which defeats the object in a way. Any advice? Thanks.

    Purdy Sprig

I'd like another 1" Sprig, but can't find anyone stocking that size now for what ever reason that may be. What other brushes have that small stock/narrow thin tip like the Sprig? Is there a Wooster which is like the Sprig? Thanks.

    Roll of roofing felt

Some time ago I bought a roll of felt for something, it has (flatish) stone chippings bonded to it. I can't find it again anywhere. Does anyone know what I'm referring to and where I might get it?

    Decanting paint

With most woodwork paints there is a significant saving to be made if buying a 2.5L can over a 1L can. Do you think it'd cause any issues with the paint if decanting some from the 2.5L into a 1L can which was recently used? Holding a 1L can would be far easier whilst painting!

    Re doing sealant

Once the old sealant has been removed, if there's the odd bit here and there which I can't get off, but generally isn't in the way, would this be ok to seal over? So it isn't in the way as such, just some old sealant underneath, may come into contact with the new, but well below the surface. Thanks.

    Satinwood Paint

Hello, I've for a few years as a DIYer been using Dulux Trade Diamond Satinwood. I find the Dulux to be good, but difficult to work with to get that good finish. I find it can run easily, then it pulls when trying to brush out those runs. I use Purdey Monarch Elite and Sprigg brushes. I've...

    Completion Certificate

About 7 years ago I had a single storey extension. It was done under Full Plans. A building inspector visited and inspected the stages he wanted to see and was happy with everything. At the end, I called to let them know I'd finished, they said ok fine. I asked if they wanted to visit again and...

Fixing a toilet to tiled floor

I've got a toilet to fix into the floor, the thing is instead of the screws fixing into a bracket which would be fixed into the floor, it uses two screws which go into the floor at an angle. I won't be able to get a drill in from one side because the drill would touch the wall before the correct...

    Diamond tile drill bit

Hi, I've got an Erbauer diamond tile drill bit which I bought recently. I've done porcelain 7 tiles with it and I'm trying to do number 8, but it looks as if the diamond has worn off the the drilling face of the bit. Now there is about 10mm of the shank which has diamond along it, so I did...
