    Vinted scammers

There seems to be a business model being used by one of the sellers on Vinted that I've come across: many of the items listed have incorrect sizing (for clothes); the title is different to the description which is different to the item label. On some they have even hidden the label in the photo...

Would this be damp this high?

Any thoughts on what the staining could be on the pillars shown herein the pics? It's the inside of the cathedral local to me. I did think damp but it seems rather high. Alternatively, peoples mucky hands but again, very high. I don't think it's just cleaning part-finished from top to bottom.

    Creating the right colour mortar

I live in a 1980s Bovis home constructed of Cotswold stone bricks. I am trying to rebuild a garden wall, built of the same bricks, but am unclear as how to get the right / same mortar colour. It appears that the wall mortar is a more yellow and matches the bricks well yet the house has a slight...

Thomsons one coat seal drying time?

How long should a 'thicker than 1mm' coat of Thomsons one-coat take to dry, before being safe for rain? I applied according to the instructions; "can be applied to moist surfaces" and "is rain-proof immediately". However, what I didn't appreciate was; "ponded water should not be allowed to stand...

    Sealant tube holder ideas?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a bag or holder for sealant tubes? I currently use a bag but it's not very successful as they fall about and the nozzles get bent. Something that I just grab and stick in the back of the car. I've seen many online but they all seem to be a fixed type, for...

Replace sensor heads on Twinflex Pro2

My system is now 10yrs old and I am informed that the sensors heads should be replaced. The original installer company no longer exists and the co that I use for the annual testing has quoted me ~£1k for 10no. units. I have seen them available for ~£30 each and so no idea where they get their...

    Is this buttress big enough?

My garden wall had developed some large cracks over the past few years and got particularly bad this year. So much so that we've knocked it down and, once the footings have been dug out, are likely to replace it with a hedge instead. The situation we current have is the existing neighbouring...

    Thoughts on bodywork repair needed?

Blinded by lights in the darkness, I took the turn into our driveway too tightly and gouged a scrape into the side of my van. Luckily, it has not gone all the way through but it's pretty deep and rather unsightly. Any thoughts on how it is likely to be repaired? I haven't been to a body-shop as...

    Loose kitchen door hinge

Anyone know what I can use to secure / re-affix the fixing screws on a normal kitchen cabinet hinge? It's the part that attaches to the unit, rather than to the door. They've become loose, I suspect stripped. Thanks

    Cleaning conservatory plastic sheet roof

The roof of our conservatory has gotten pretty bad this year. It seems worse this year more than others and, more so on the south (sun-facing) side. In the past and also this time, I have cleaned it with a soft broom and bleachy water but this time it doesn't seem to have touched it. I have a...

    Bloom on outside of windows

Any ideas what product to be used to remove the bloom on the outside of out DG windows? They've been in about 13yrs but thenloom has been present for about the last 8 at least. They are leaded. I'm thinking it may be some sort of leaching from the lead.

Help re 2014 Fiesta front suspension

I've replaced the front spring on my Fiesta 2014 but it creaks when turning between each lock. Further investigation and it's clear that the spring is not seated properly at the top. The top-hat bearing is all ok. I'm struggling to seat it correctly. As I let the spring clamps off it simply...

    Clear a blocked flexi-pipe toilet?

Had toilet fitted about 12yrs ago with about a foot or so of flexi-pipe waste. It's been fine for the most part but more recently, about the last year or so, has started backing-up when trying to flush the more solid waste. It will go down eventually, with a bit of plunging of the loo brush...

Interest and then silence from trades

One for the tradees here. I posted a query on FB and had lots of replies. A few companies even contacted me direct, asking me to send details, saying they had availability and "could have a look straightaway". I emailed but made the rookie error of cc everyone in rather than bcc. Everyone could...

    Paint flaking off internal walls

The matt emulsion white paint is flaking off of a couple of my internal walls. At least I think it's the paint itself and not efflorescence as I've read elsewhere on here. Any ideas how to remedy it? I do have a long-standing water-ingress / damp issue in these walls and yes, I know that I...

    Alternative to Google Timeline?

Looking for an alternative equivalent to Google Timeline now that Google have pulled the plug on being able to view and save it on the pc. Any options anyone? There's of course Polar-steps but that I think is to clunky and then excercise tracking packages like Strava etc but these are too...

    Pumped shower not heating

I have a Mira Vision, pumped shower that occasionally, runs cold / won't get up to temperature. Set on 42degs, it is only just body temperature. Last year (I think) I replaced the pump assembly as that was making odd noises. What is the part that I need to replace this time? Obviously some sort...

    Rad always hot

This is a two-part query. My tenant is saying that the radiator in his room is always hot. I've talked him through checking that the trv is operational. He swears it is ie it is not loose when on setting 5, the highest (thinking body has come unscrewed and so not closing off when set to zero). I...

F75 error Vailent boiler - no running hot water

Hi, As per the title, no hot water at the taps. The tap runs hot but then cuts out with the F75 code. Any thoughts on what it could be before I call the engineer out? Anything a lay-person can try? I tried switching off and on again but no difference. It had a new fan and PCB in 2021 and the...
