    Setting up a new TV?

Old TV 42" new TV 55" both cheap Black Friday deals, new one Sharp Aquos, three HDMI leads, satellite lead, terrestrial aerial lead, and connects to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It says mini AV, I assume I need some special cable? I have a composite video/audio cable to SCART, but not what looks like a...

2 kWh battery pack, is it permitted, is it safe, and is it worthwhile.

This 2 kWh battery pack has been shown on eFIXX, It is expensive, but it is also portable, it seems it can export 800 watt to the grid, but I know my home only has a bidirectional RCBO on one of my 14 RCBO's so only the sockets in my shed could be used. As to G98 etc, well if one already has...

Size, solar, inverter, battery, what is the sweet point?

I have 6 kW solar, 5 kW inverter, and 6.4 kWh battery, and I use around 12 kWh per day. I have an Octopus EV supply tariff, 8.5p/kWh 00:30 to 05:30 rest of time 30.51p/kWh and had the solar just over 2 years, since moving to Octopus get paid 15p/kWh for export and standing charge 68.34p per day...

Aqara Radiator Thermostat W600 Review – Quiet, Accurate Smart Heating what about the rest?

Full marks on the review google shows around £50 so not cheap, and the app looks very similar to the Kasa TRV head. Two year battery life is good, the Energenie has a two-year battery life as well. "you also get six adapters in the box, covering Danfoss RAV/RA/RAVL, Caleffi, Giacomini...

Energy saving, advertising rubbish or what?

This was part of an email from Nest, but how would it know? The boiler only runs when the return water is cool enough, it does not matter if the thermostat is on, it is when the boiler runs that matters. With a modulating boiler, also how much modulated, so how would they know how I did?

TRV exercising with Kasa and Wiser?

The Energenie and eQ-3 TRV heads exercise the TRV once a week, but see nothing with the Kasa and Wiser heads, in summer should once select a high temperature for a short time once a week to exercise them?

    Tadpoles and leaves in pond?

I would like to remove all the leaves in the pond, but near impossible as tadpoles still swimming around the pond. I like frogs, they get rid of flies, so don't want to kill any tadpoles.

Central control for the house. Looking for ideas.

The PC will not run all, and I don't walk around with a phone in my hand all day, and was looking at the EvoHome with a wall mounted unit which you can control a number of rooms from. dated now, I know, but the idea of a central control which I can use to control and monitor the house instead of...

The TRV and what does what, how to select a new head.

For me too late, I am not going to change them now, but I have made mistakes, and would like a thread that we can direct people to so they don't make the same errors. I have hunted the internet, and no guide seems to either cover all, or even get it right. It seems everyone who writes about...

Having electric turned off, with no fault?

I was reading a report about flooding where it said "National Grid isolated power to 400 properties in around the area for safety reasons, but the electricity has since been restored." It seems strange that so many homes are flooded, and if I lost power because some other house was flooded, I...

    Will old mobile phones work?

Daughter's phone has failed, loads of phones knocking around the house, but the SIM card size has changed, so can't test them, no point getting a replacement SIM card if phone will no longer work, so will an old Nokia phone still work, battery tested and OK, found the charger, but is the network...

Black Friday was 15 April 1921 in the UK, but it seems this may have changed?

I was taught in school about Red and Black Friday, all hinged around the general strikes, in the USA their tax year-end/start generates a need for some stored to reduce stock, but if transferred to UK it would be Friday before the 5th of April, so close to the 15th, so could be easily combined...

Fans on radiators, anyone tried them?

The idea is to get more heat out of the radiator, I had one of these for years, but the main difference is control. The old Myson had a variable speed fan set manually, and a thermostat to turn it on/off, and no restriction to water flow, the more modern versions have an automatic 5 speed fan...

How to colour concrete, to match slabs.

There was a sloping drive to a garage, garage made into a flat, and outside the patio door I have built up the ground so I can have a level area for seats etc. This has left me with a little of the slope left and I want to fill over that tarmac to level it out, just to remove the trip hazard...

    What was appertaining here?

Think clear the state of charge of battery did not vary as shown, but what caused it?

    Fluf capacitor?

this is the delta version, high speed causes vibration, hence the purring, the flux is star.

Energy v cost, do people really not know the difference?

I have just read an article about saving energy. and it lists things which switching them off does not really save energy, as in the main, electric used becomes heat, and so ones thermostat just adjusts how much energy is used for direct heating, so swings and roundabouts, no real energy lost...

    Fridge magnets!

Seems Whirlpool fridge doors don't have provision to put milk in the door, so must remember not to get Whirlpool fridge then.

    Cleaning slabs.

I have extended the paved area with slabs and brick sets, there are a few slabs which are covered with a moss or lichen, and need to clean them so they match the new slabs. Some were cleaned by the gardener before he had a heart attack, () and they do match, but not likely to see him for some...

    Set back thermostat, why?

Very expensive at £208.64, but why? Found some instructions but clearly not the one I found in the caravan used for our holiday. The problem was 23°C too hot, and 18°C too cold, and waking up at night at a very low temperature not I would hope down to 5°C was not funny. It was not helped when...
