    Double Socket off a spur?

    Sounds reasonable.

    Double Socket off a spur?

I thought I'd seen threads implying multiple sockets on a 16A Radial were frowned on - not for safety but because the regs only list a 20A Radial as one of the standard circuits?

    Arrg! Impossible airlock (combi)

Sorry :) if I'd had a better idea about the innards of a combi boiler I'd probably have put 2+2 together more quickly myself. Anyway, problem solved. Thanks for the responses.

    Arrg! Impossible airlock (combi)

To complete this for future reference... Ended up getting someone to look at it, all inlet filters etc clear, nothing on outlet side that could cause a restriction leaving only the heat exchanger. When we pulled it out it was obviously badly full of limescale - you could put a finger in and...

Thanks for the answers. Will investigate the inlet.

    Arrg! Impossible airlock (combi)

I sort of thought an airlock was unlikely - have drained it down and refilled with no problems before. The cold water feed is joined to a manifold (one of 4 or 5) on the bottom of the Baxi. The Manifold sticks directly out from the rear wall (points toward me looking at it from the front) and...

    Arrg! Impossible airlock (combi)

Help! Saturday afternoon I turned off my mothers main stopcock, opened downstairs taps to drain hot & cold water. Replaced two taps in a downstairs loo (took half hour or so), stopcock back on, cold water returns with good pressure but hot water only ever a weak dribble - this is every hot tap...

    Luminaires

Actually it's not a living area so all of those would be OK but the 600x600 ones are too big. I'm thinking of ones in this sort of style (apologies for the crap phone image) It's about 10-12" on a side

    Luminaires

Simple one... When people post a question regarding the 120off GU50 lighting scheme they plan for their kitchen someone (often BAS) posts a link to a nice square HF fluorescent fixture perhaps 10" on a side that looks like it could be surface mounted or recessed. I think I'd like a...

adding 4 addtional sockets from a socket

From a layman's point of view I can't see that a ring was designed to do anything other than save cable. Any installation that allows 13A sockets that have _no_ restriction on them from a users point of view to be magically unsafe over 2kw is frankly, bizarre.

    Dimming LED Spot lights

Thanks for the feedback - might order one to give it a try.

    Dimming LED Spot lights

[/url] If you dont mind me asking how are those comparing with the 50W GU10s in terms of brightness, beam width etc? I've got a fitting I'd like to swap out for LEDs but 7w items (which appear to be roughly similar to 35w GU10s) probably wouldnt be bright enough.

    Shared Development & Roofs

It's a tricky one - technically we are linked anyway as over the years various bits of brickwork have gone up to put doors in etc - when I bought the house almost 20 years ago it was already 'attached' by various bits of tacked on brickwork. I never considered it an issue although now the...

    Shared Development & Roofs

Thanks for the replies. Not really sure about all of this at all! I dont think the houses would change classification and ownership is indeed an unknown, I guess I need a solicitor.

    Shared Development & Roofs

Hi, I'm after a bit of advice relating to a joint development my neighbour and I are planning. In the picture below house 1 and 2 are semi's and shown is the gap between them, which is currently filled with a rats nest of brick outbuildings, dodgy roofs and tacked on bits of plastic corrugated...

Reposted from Building Regulations and Planning Permission

Well, at face value it sounds right but we've seen a few tales of people notifying their BCO and subsequently being told they need a sparks to sign it off (which of course the sparks wont do since they didnt install it). Not much you can do except ask the specific question - will they arrange...

Snapped lug on socket back box

No chance of swapping the box? If its metal and plastered round a bit of careful carving with a stanley knife should free it up, if its plastic and plastered over you can cut around it with a blade to free it up - if you can find the edge of the plastic bezel with luck you can do it neatly...
