Coronavirus - the most reasoned view so far?

He admits his vaccinations won't be proven to either be effective or safe,so I'd not be rolling my sleeve up anyway.

Coronavirus - the most reasoned view so far?

Bill gates didn't vaccinate his own children, but wants everyone else on the planet to take his mystery injections? - No thanks.

    Split stair tread

I'm looking for advice on how best to repair the split on my pine staircase? It's about an inch from the front edge and goes almost all the way across, but is still attached at each end,if I put my foot on it it opens up the split and looks like it might be ready to let go. Any repair ideally...

Removing adhesive underlay from oak flooring

But then I'd be sticking the underlay to the old glue rather than the wood - seems risky.

Removing adhesive underlay from oak flooring

I could use talc to make it easier to handle and nail the flooring to battens on my concrete floor. Seems like a plan. Thanks.

Removing adhesive underlay from oak flooring

Hi, I won 40 square metres of solid oak flooring on Ebay, not nailed or glued but has 'Elastilon Basic' self adhesive underlay stuck to the underside. I can scrape most of it off with a paint scraper, but this leaves a layer of very sticky residue I don't know how to remove. Is there an easy way...

Gas leak? - supply cut off by National Grid Gas,what to do?

I'm hoping the plumber will find that the leak is in the gas fire and that we didn't smell gas because it went up the chimney.

Gas leak? - supply cut off by National Grid Gas,what to do?

Well the leak was said to be 6mb,but I can't see how he could have isolated the gas fire because the little chrome tap on the elbow is seized. There's been no smell of gas.

Gas leak? - supply cut off by National Grid Gas,what to do?

I had a new gas meter installed, but when this work had been completed it turned out that there was apparently a gas leak on my side of the new meter :( The National Grid plumber isolated the appliances but the leak remained,so he declared my installation to be unsafe and cut off my supply -...

Land drain ends in my garden - what to do?

About 15years ago i put my spade through the pipe whilst digging a strip footing for a diy brick garage and the water trickled out clear but soon filled my trench. The water company sent out a camera team who said the pipe was blocked and looked like it was collapsed. I was advised to wrap...

Land drain ends in my garden - what to do?

Hi,There is a 6" clay pipe that ends in my garden that's been there probably for the last 60 years but is now giving me grief. I believe that this pipe was not intended to end in my garden, but when water company cameras were put into it some years ago it was found to end at my fence line...

Free new boiler or stick with reliable 1980's one?

If it'll upset Dan more I'll take the Combi boiler option with all new radiators, tanks all removed, boiler in airing cupboard and flue through the roof. Now that must cost thousands...

Free new boiler or stick with reliable 1980's one?

It's fairly obvious that my meaning was that I'd made an unwilling contribution to the estimated half million 'free' boilers already fitted under the current scheme. You appear to claim that you'd be paying for my new boiler if I choose to have one. What's the difference?

I think I've paid for one boiler. :)

Free new boiler or stick with reliable 1980's one?

How is it that you feel that you'd be paying for my 'free' boiler, and that I've not in fact paid for my own 'free' boiler Dan?

Free new boiler or stick with reliable 1980's one?

Pardon me,but my neigbours have already had their free boilers, whyever should I feel guilty about considering one? Haven't I already paid for half a million 'free' boilers for other people?

Free new boiler or stick with reliable 1980's one?

My boiler is a Glow Worm Space Saver MKII and was installed by the council. I don't want a combi boiler because I know that they're unreliable, but I was hoping that a modern conventional boiler would be a better bet. It would also mean that I'd still have an electric immersion heater if...
