    Cause of brief leak?

We've just had the bathroom fitted, so the initial thought was an overflow had come adrift or maybe a new pipe joint, as we were running a bath at the time. Took the bath panel off, all the new pipe work was easily visible and all dry, so no problems there. The only other thing I can think of...

    Cause of brief leak?

A couple of weeks ago we had a leak ( fast drips ), about a cupful of clean warm water dripped through the kitchen ceiling in a short space of time. First reaction was to start lifting the floorboards upstairs to locate source. Couldn't raise the necessary boards without removing cabin bed and...

Adhesive for small area of glass tile

I'm using BAL Grip - has a green lid. I'll try using this for a couple, if I can pull them off 24 hours later then I'll try something else.

Adhesive for small area of glass tile

I'm tiling round the bath and shower at the moment with plain white 20 x 25 tiles and have been using BAL Grip adhesive. I've now got to about eye level and want to insert a blue glass border to break up the plain white. This will involve a row of approx fifteen 20 x 5cm glass tiles. What's...

    Recommended extractor fan

thanks - I tend to use Screwfix as I live about 2 min from their warehouse - looks like Manrose are the economy version, otherwise it's VentAxia or Expelair - any other makes to look out for? Also can you suspend them from the rafters?

    Recommended extractor fan

I was thinking one that mounts into the plasterboard, but does the ceiling amplify the noise? Also I have open eaves ( i.e. no soffit boxes ) - could I just use some flat ducting to vent it?

    Advice on bathroom wall

Hi - hoping for some advice here See attached pic of my bathroom. A new bath is going right up to the wall and I'm having a shower valve fitted into the marine ply which I'll then tile. The idea is to fit a bath screen, but only tile to where the bath screen attaches to the wall. Q...

    bath screen

Managed to fix another upright 3 x 2 into the wall, I've got six uprights in all to screw into. The whole lot seems pretty sturdy now - I'll still double up on the paltry four screws they recommend for fixing though. Suppose it's not a lot different from a hardwood door weight-wise.

    bath screen

Hmm - i've got a 8 x 4 sheet of marine ply coming tomorrow morning now. :? I'm having a venturi shower mixer fitted so there won't be particularly high pressure water flying about. Received said screen this morning, pretty sturdy to say the least - held to the wall with just 4 x 1.5" size 8...

    Recommended cordless screwdriver ?

The batteries have gone on my Black and Decker cordless screwdriver - the replacements cost more than the original tool itself. Is any store doing a good deal around the £50 mark at the moment? I'm not a heavy user so don't need to splash out on a professional tool.

    bath screen

Thanks for the reply. Since the ceiling's probably coming out as well, I may be able to add an extra upright and secure it to a ceiling joist. Can I tile straight onto marine ply?

    bath screen

Hi I'm stripping my bathroom and pulling the tiles off the wall where I intend hanging a bath screen. It's a hundred year old terrace and the wall is a sturdy 3 x 2 partition wall with lath and plaster which I'm going to pull off. Having ordered a hinged bath screen on-line however, I've now...
