Please help with Potterton Netaheat Profile

Well yes its working as far as there is reasonable heating and hot water available now. I can live with it but the boiler is not interlocked with the room and cylinder stats as it used to be. The connection is there in so far as I can shut off and refire the boiler with the room stat at...

Please help with Potterton Netaheat Profile

petertheplumber12,HERTSDRAINAGE2010,Agile,45yearsagasman, Gentlemen, thank you all very much for your help. Having re bled all rads I located the cylinder coil upstand bleeder and bled the hot water circuit. Also for some reason the bypass valve had been opened right up, (not by me)...

Please help with Potterton Netaheat Profile

Thank you 45years. System is a fully pumped conventional system with F and E tank in loft, there are two separate motorised valves either side of a tee just after the pump. They are working OK as when hall stat calls, m/v opens and hot water heats pipe further up. Same with hot water circuit. Is...

Please help with Potterton Netaheat Profile

Hi, my 15 year old Potterton fires up fine but shuts down after 8 mins so will not adequately heat the rads. With hall stat still calling it will refire after 20 mins and shut down after about 8 mins and so on. When my engineer visited he said the boiler is locking out because the return...

    parking on a junction ? illegal ?

"It's obstruction which ever way you want to look at it." jetex, if you are suggesting that it should be, then I agree with you, but it's not as far as the law is concerned. Footpath normally refers to a Public Footpath; a right of way across private land rather than a footway parallel to...

    parking on a junction ? illegal ?

PJF, "... parking with one or more wheels off the public highway. There were no yellow lines either from memory, " Can you remember the regulation that you were in breach of? I would be interestested to know. Was this in London or the centre of a major city? If you parked with two...

    parking on a junction ? illegal ?

Parking on the footway as such, is not illegal unless there are double yellow lines with accompanying signage or parking is specifically prohibited by local authority byelaw. (As it is in many London boroughs) Parking on the highway within 10 meters of a corner or opposite a junction is...

Capping a gas pipe in the kitchen

Indeed. Why doesn't anyone actually tell it like it is; bit like the emperors new clothes. OK, yes you can cap off the pipe yourself if you are competent to do so and can perform the required safety tests. And there is no requirement to prove competence other than doing the job correctly.

    Radiators not getting hot enough

If you turn the room stat up do the rads stay on longer? Is the boiler stat set to max?

WHY DO I HAVE TO PUT CH & HW ON, ON MY TIMER FOR HOT WAT

You have a cylinder thermostat? Switch on HW only at the programmer and turn up the cylinder stat setting to max. Does the boiler fire? What type of motorised valve/valves do you have?

    Old Boiler not firing up

Are you able to use a multimeter safely? If so, establish that you are getting a switched live at the boiler, then check you are getting a live signal at the main burner solonoid.

Help With Baxi Back Boiler - Pilot Not Igniting Reliably

Did you have the problem before it was serviced? If you are confident that you have gas flow at the pilot and you can see the spark then gas is not getting within ignition range and is being deflected away. probably by dirt in the pilot jet. Or the spark electrode is not correctly positioned.

Potterton Netaheat Boiler, no HW without CH

If you request hot water only at the programmer and turn the cylinder stat up to max will the boiler fire?

    Ideal classic SE12ff

So when you select HW only the boiler won't fire, but when you select HW and CH it does? Need to check demand from programmer (with HW only selected) via terminal box to cylinder stat and boiler (and pump) and verify presence of SWL at boiler.

    The Infamous Potterton Profile 50e

The mid-position valve will be fed in from the pump. One exit from the Tee will go to the rads, the other to the cylinder coil. Find this one and about where it enters the cylinder there should/may be a vertical upstand with a bleed valve on top. If there isn't one you could loosen the union...

    The Infamous Potterton Profile 50e

If your boiler is tripping, it is overheating due to a circulation fault. This is caused by air, insufficient water, sludge causing partial blockage or bad pump. OK, F&E tank is full, you have bled radiators but have you bled hot water primary circuit? Is there an upstand bleeder on the feed...

    Central heating pump overrun

Many boilers incorporate a pump over-run facility. Pump should run for about 10 mins. Audible water movement is due to air in the system. Have you bled the primary hot water circuit? Is there an upstand valve on the flow to the heating coil? Banging in the pipework is usually steam from...

Perm and switched live to new boiler?

Where is your Isolator (3amp double pole) switch? Is it next to the boiler? If so, take the permanent supply from there.

    Potterton Profile60 Netaheat Problems

As you say, once the call from the external controls is lost and the main burner shuts off, the pilot will normally extinguish. To verify a gas valve fault a qualified engineer will check for the presence of a voltage at the main burner solonoid in this situation (when there is still demand...
